Actor Who Plays the Devil on History's 'The Bible' Looks Like Obama

“The actor who plays the devil on the History channel's "The Bible" bears more than a passing resemblance to President Obama, a fact that hasn't gone unnoticed on social media.

So, was it intentional? Responding to the speculation, the History released a statement saying, "History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection.

Executive Producers, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey called the connection "utter nonsense." And Downey said, "Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love for our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of 'The Bible.'"

False or not, people are tweeting about the brewing controversy. Conservative pundit Glenn Beck was among the first to point out the similarities between the actor and the president.

Beck isn't the only guy to see the uncanny resemblance. Filmmaker Judd Apatow joked, "Now I must continue my 12 year survivor boycott," a reference to the fact that "The Bible" is produced by "Survivor" honcho Mark Burnett.

Others weren't so much offended as they were confused. Twitter user [MENTION=522]Tex[/MENTION]as1214 wrote, "LOL! Why does the devil in 'The Bible' look exactly like President Obama."

And @Mediaite wrote, "Obama As The Devil? The History Channel's The Bible's Stunning Look-alike."

The actor's name is Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni. According to his IMDb page, he has appeared in several religion-focused television-movies, including a 2006 adaptation of "The Ten Commandments" and a 2000 film called "In the Beginning."

Burnett and Downey said, "He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics -- including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President."

A character wearing a Barack Obama mask on "True Blood: "This isn't the first time an American president made an unintentional cameo in a high-profile TV event.

On HBO's "Game of Thrones," show creators admitted they used a rubber recreation of George W. Bush's severed head. Co-creator David Benioff said, "It's not a choice, it's not a political statement. It's just, we had to use what heads we had around."

Also, HBO's "True Blood" drew criticism for filming a scene in which disguised gunmen wore Obama masks while firing weapons.”

IMO: False representation or not, the pic looks very much like President Obama, an intended comparison, as producers Burnett and Downey must have been aware of the similarity in facial features when the actor was cast as Satan. What is disturbing is the use of a hoodie, clothing which is a fashion statement of today among the black community.

Both producers Burnett and Downey stand as being either completely naive, or guilty of an intentional subliminal message that President Obama is evil.

In a caustic political atmosphere, and as professing their love and admiration for the president, they should have been intelligent enough to steer clear of any of the very ‘distractions’ they are now complaining about.

An actor such as the one used in ‘The Bible’ depicting Satan could also have been used in a constructive role as well, which would not have raised the questions being asked today.

I will go with my instinct on this: 'If it looks like a pig, smells like a pig, acts like a pig, it sure ain’t a bunny rabbit!'

 

How is this entertainment trash that probably belongs in tabloids a current event, news or anything any adult would actually waste time on?

 

Knowing how much Obama enjoys attention I'll bet he was happy to do a cameo role for the series.

The producers must really have it in for Satan.

 

Type casting. Perhaps if Obama did not claim the right to hunt Americans by drone or ruin our nation's financial standing people wouldn't see him as being quite so evil.

The only thing that really struck me when watching the show was that Satan wouldn't be ugly on the outside like he was shown. I'm just thinking Satan's a bit more vain to be caught looking like that.

After seeing the two pics side by side---yep there is a resemblance. But at least he isn't being shown getting shot or his head being cut off.

 

People see what they want to see, and sadly we have learned that reality often is left at the door.

Very big mischaracterization of what was said, there was nothing about "hunting" US citizens. What was asked was what were the limitations to drones being used and it was explained by the attorney general Eric Holder in certain circumstances such as active military targets in the US and specifically mentioned Al Qaeda operatives such an action would be possible but said the likes of this would be extraordinarily rare and would not be something they would specifically advocate for. Right now the use of them being used in a practical basis is actually protected against by many regulations and even treaties banning such an action.

Much of what was asked was very broad and hypothetical that it really became misinterpreted on what was actually said. The best article I found showing some of what was said was a few done by politifact.

More likely than the devil looking like Obama, is that Obama sometimes looks like the devil. (or what we tend to think of as the fictitious 'devil')

Obama has a very nice smile. But he also has another smile, that he uses even more often. He always shows a lot of teeth, but the smile that shows more teeth is a very forced, very phony-looking smile.

I cannot understand why his handlers don't recognize that and coach him to change it. I'm glad they don't, because he uses that smile when he's being oily or disingenuous. And we all pretty much recognize that phony smile (it's kind of the same on anyone trying to "win us over" with a smile- dishonest used car salesman, big man trying to give little girl candy, etc) and so it kind of tips people off to Obama's uh.....less-than-honest moments, shall we say?

Naturally, hard-core Obama supporters relegate the recognition to the back of their mind, like we do when our best friend or our spouse has done something they shouldn't have, and we're trying to smooth over their bad behavior in our mind.

I've thought before though, that that slimy "trust me" smile of Obama's definitely resembles the mainstream caricature of the so-called 'devil' we've had for many years. I have a hard time even watching him talk sometimes.

 

The dude does look more than a bit like Obama.

Spoiler alert. They nail the Jewish kid who says he is the son of god to a cross and he comes back to life on the third day.

Saw a bit of it the other day when I was too lazy to reach for the remote. It is horribly inaccurate when compared to the bible. Lot apparently sdisappeare3d and they did not talk about him having sex with his daughters. The story of Abraham and Isaac was all screwed up. Samson apparently was a large black man who had dreadlocks.

The entire thing is a silly farce meant to dumbed down what is bad reading, in my wise and correct opinion.
