I have seen allegations of this before, but here is a recent news report:

As one of the students (who's English is limited) who opposes the idea points out:

1) Why pay money to people to say that Israel is a ''good'' place, rather than spend the money on making it a '''good'' place?

2) If Israel is a ''good'' place, then why do they need to pay people to say so? If it was a ''good'' place, then people would say so anyway, without being paid to do so.

What this does is demonstrate that Israel is not as ''good'' a place, as the average Israeli who posts on the internet says it is.

It would if Israel faced normal criticsm as any other state but it doesnt, it faces oregenized paid propaganda from Hamas/Hizbi/Iran + other scums so casual ppl (like me for example) are not enough to cover that offense, logiclly, if Israel is a bad place then that money will really wont make ppl say good things on it, its a way to compensate for the time it takes to counter the anti-semite crap I see here every day. "qoutes" from the Talmud, "quetes" from Zionist leaders that been dead for decades, these things are well orgenized and take ALOT of time for normal ppl to dig the source and find the truth.

Come on man, grow up. They are all crippled by the harshest economic sanctions ever. They do not have any money to waste. The important media, with the wide coverage, is firmly under the Zionist control. So Gilos, nothing to worry about.

The students could promote a just peace and inter-faith dialogue.

A Palestinian Christian Cry for Reconciliation

By Eileen Fleming

20 February, 2009
Countercurrents.org

A Review of A Palestinian Christian Cry for Reconciliation by Rev. Naim Ateek

excerpt:

The theology of Sabeel is a theology that arose from the oppression of Palestinians under the state of Israel and also a theology of liberation from the watered down theology that keeps many Christians too comfortable.

Sabeel's liberation theology is rooted in righting the injustices inflicted upon the indigenous people of the Holy Land.

Sabeel offers an ecumenical and interfaith theology that seeks to unite the World Wide Body of Christ to the suffering of their sisters, brothers and cousins in the family of Father Abraham in Israel Palestine.

Sabeel is supported by Christians, Muslims and Jews who work together for peace in the Holy Land by seeking justice; equal human rights for all and an end to the Israeli Occupation of Palestine.

This is the best book I have ever read on Palestine. I recommend it to all.

We have people who post articles from RT.com and PressTV quite a bit; does that make foreign agents of Iran and/or Russia?

I think its a good marketing idea.

There are hundreds if not thousands of corporations that do this to promote their products and services using social media.
There are many companies that pay people to post postive reviews of their products and services.

There are organized efforts to utilize social media to denounce Israel, Iran, Pakistan, America, socialism, jews, commies, islam, christianity, gays, etc. etc. etc.

Seems to me that Israel gets a double hit. They get both truth and vehement denials communicated across the web to counter the anti-zionists, jew haters and political enemies while also being able to get positive spin on their flaws and screw ups out there.
In addition they help students with part time jobs.

Imagine an organized communications plan that dispense standardized talking points and responses across the web. Its almost like they've taken a page out of the holocaust deniers handbook. Nothing like learning from your enemies.

There's a lot of misinformation in the net,
and I think, this is no exception.
Money is not really necessary if it is to toil for one's own existence.

"...standardized talking points..." describes hasbara to a T. We never ever hear a single admission of Israeli wrongdoing from those people; nothing but denial and diversion. Just as the Hasbara Handbook instructs and, like a holiday brochure, it doesn't tell you there's a massive construction site next door to your idyllic hotel...

What would be the point? Forums are worse than blogs as far as getting anything worthwhile from them. Perhaps muslims put more stock in them than we do. We just use them for entertainment.

Are you suggesting that social media does not have the power to influence people's attitudes?
Are you suggesting that "entertainment" cannot shape attitudes and perceptions?
