If her parents had chosen to live in another city she wouldn't have been killed. If Greer had chosen a second story apartment she wouldn't have been killed. If she had walked in another direction that morning she wouldn't have been killed. If Greer hadn't chased her she wouldn't have been killed. If she hadn't tripped she wouldn't have been killed.

If Greer hadn't pointed a gun at her prone body and fired two bullets she wouldn't have been killed.

I don't excuse her committing robbery because bad things happened to her, it was her choice.

I don't excuse Greer committing murder because bad things happened to him, it was his choice.

So... An 80 year old man who was tackled (By said pregnant lady) and broke his collarbone shouldn't have shot her? I believe she should of been executed for using the "I'm Pregnant!" excuse after she had clearly shown no care for the unborn child's safety. So who really is the monster? this man or that woman? IMO the woman.

Prosecutorial discretion. Just because someone breaks the law doesn't mean he'll be charged. But my point stands that he broke the law.

Brew, no sympathy for the criminals, they put themselves into that position and karma caught up. I will state that once they fled my property game off cops called. In Colorado that is what I have to abide by. In my mind it makes sense. Each State has different ROE for Castle doctrine or Stand your ground.

2A is essential for the freedom and liberties of society and citizen, without 2A only the elite have a voice and history reeks of what harm that brings.

This should never be a left or right issue.

You're right. I had a friend of mine shoot a burglar who invaded his home in Denver. Problem was he shot the guy running away and he got two years for his troubles.

And you would argue that is bad, right? In other words, you think people should be allowed to shoot fleeing criminals without breaking the law.

As long as they're still on your property, why not. Especially if they're perpetrated violence on their victims.

Then you will go to prison where you belong.

Shot her? Yes that is fine. Walking up to her and executing her after she was incapacitated? Sorry that is murder.

You realize that the dead woman in this case was on the street when she was gunned down, right?

Still, your argument is not entirely unreasonable. I could live with giving property owners immunity for shooting a fleeing suspect while still on their property, but only because it isn't always clear when a suspect is in fact fleeing. But once the suspect has left the property, that has to be the end of it.

As soon as you chase the invader off of your property, you officially become a vigilante. We don't want armed and dangerous vigilantes.

We need to bring back the fleeing felon rule. If someone makes it to the property line should they have to yell Ollie..Ollie..Oxen free?

Fight or flight is a reflex. Once in fight mode this reflex is not as easily turned off as you seem to imagine.

Every conceivable act known to man is against the law somewhere in America. The burglars probably broke a dozen laws. I can understand the old guy capping the woman and if I was a juror I would vote "not guilty". But he shouldn't have said what he said. It makes him look bad even though he was justified in plugging her.
