I haven't been here very long,but I just don't understand you people. You have a perfectly good forum here with the majority of the posters seemingly trustworthy, but for some reason, you won't support the management. Last month they missed their financial goal by a lot, this month the same. Don't you realize it takes money to run something like this, and don't you owe them just a ittle bit of a helping Hand? surely you are not all that broke
I appreciate the efforts and expense this site entails, but working part time and with a mortgage, taxes, etc., I really can't contribute to anything right now except surviving. No excuse, just reality. Enjoy!
My guess is that some posters probably silently agree with you and plan to donate, but won't post it here so they don't come across as patronizing.
I imagine their ad revenues more than cover the costs, else they wouldn't be running this forum. I donated because I appreciate and enjoy the service, not because I think they need the money.
I donated once, maybe a year or more ago? Then when I started receiving actions against me that I found stupid, it put a quick stop to that. Not the legit ones... the stupid ones. Why they still have the "donor" word under my name, I have no idea. No. There are many places that are free-to-play. I'm sure all the mods are donating.... as they should be.
LOL, I'm gonna presume this wasn't the BEST THREAD you won an award for, huh? I donate periodically but mainly because I like to pay my own way (so I can legitimately complain). Rumor has it the owner of this site owns other sites which are very profitable. No idea what that means exactly, except I've never seen the owner (or any staff member) ask for donations. Nice of you to be concerned on the owner's behalf, but I really don't think it's an issue. Your loyalty is impressive though, they might make you a mod.
I remember about a year ago they got a new forum boss because apparently sponsors were complaining about the non-PC threads, most of which pertained to racial issues. If the sponsors want to dictate which opinions are allowed here, then the sponsors can pay the bills.
I am unaware of any awards. and I too like to pay my own way, so I pay monthly Frankly, I think it is dispicable for posters to freeload, "IF" they are able to pay.
You mean you weren't notified you'd won a best thread award? Maybe you're posting from a phone and can't see the award. Whatever... donate if you want to, but it's really not your place to judge others who don't. Some actually consider their participation here enough of a contribution ... after all, without posters, there wouldn't be a forum. Maybe they should pay us?
Advertisers pay for space here, based on the registered membership numbers ("traffic"). If that isn't enough to keep the site running, then you change the site so more people want to be a part of it. Or.... you keep it how it is, and come up with the $40 a month they actually need... on their own. As I stated earlier, the ones with the power to edit the forums the way they want them should be the ones paying, and I'll bet they do. Otherwise they wouldn't have that power. Anyway... The term "freeload" means to get something free in return. What exactly is it you think people get here ?

You couldn't do that if you didn't pay ? I quit paying and I am certainly heard. The constant reporting proves it. But I'm not sure this is a place one would come to "learn". What you don't realize is that the trolls who constantly post lefty bait threads (A, G, C) (none of whom have "donor" under their names)... are just as valued here as the member who donates cash every month. Traffic is what it's all about. Not your $5. I wasn't the one who that saw that, or brought it up. But, I have seen one of those, like September's winner. And his winning post full of insults and childish comments. So... I'm not sure how much weight I would put in "awards" here.
And what makes you think you are appreciated any more than those so=called trolls? including by me??? and the comment about awards was to all posters. not just to you ----and yaknosumpin? I don't give a damn about awards.
You misunderstood. I'm not appreciated more, nor do I need to be. In fact, I should be less appreciated because those trolls care about this, and they post a hundred times a day. They keep traffic moving. Without those 3... this place could only boast 2,000 posts per day. That's my only point. Trolls who don't donate are valued the same as you, who does donate and calls out people who don't. In other words.... you're the 1%, and they're the welfare leeching OWS'ers.
