It might have a little to do with how much islam respects women.

So, Muslims go some place they can hide their actions. What happens in Bahrain stays in Bahrain?

Simple solution: If your players don't take the field, then it's a forfeit. Problem solved.

Why One School's Boys Baseball Team Won't Play Against Girls

A parochial high school in Phoenix, Ariz. forfeited a state championship baseball game rather than play against a team that had a girl playing second base.

It's unfortunate that the parochial school denied its students the opportunity to take part in the championship game, said Neena Chaudhry, senior counsel for education and employment at the National Women's Law Center in Washington, D.C."This shows where we still are as a society in terms of gender norms, expectations and ideas of what are appropriate roles for young women," Chaudhry told me.

Usually by HS many girls leave boys' teams because in cases of physical contact there is much more possibility of injury. There are techniques in soccer such as slide tackling that can cause injury when the competitors are not of roughly comparable strength and size.

I know if a child licks an ice cream cone in Tehran they get slapped by the father for doing something lewd. What a barbaric backwards country.

Are you saying that by showing respect toward one group of Muslims, than I must have respect for all of them? You don't believe in personal responsibility?

They certainly aren't Mormons, Catholics or Protestants. I doubt that many are Jewish either. I guess there could be the occasional Hindu mixed in there.

coed varsity sports in highschool are not the norm, although it does happen from time to time, when there is no girl's version of said sport available. Soccer used to be coed in my area, now, they have a girl's team and a boy's team, and they don't go back and forth.

The only sport in my area that allows girls and boys to compete with each other is wrestling. As I have coached and reffed the sport for many years now, we see it every tournament.... at least 1 girl, 2 at the most. We weigh them in first and male refs can't be in the lockerroom with a female wrestler, so we must trust her team's team mom, to accurately record that she wasn't overweight for a particular weightclass.

For the most part, none have been super competitive in our area. In my opinion, the only ones that stand a chance at being competitive are the girls in the lighter weightclasses (106, 113) as the differences in strength are at a minimal. a 200# girl wrestling a 200# boy can be pretty lopsided In the middle weights.... dropping one weight class can help you a lot, cutting too much weight can hurt you, and wrestling 1 weightclass too high can be devestating, too.

Girls have "an extra weightclass" in their tits. They wrestle a weightclass higher than they could be competitive with.

Either way, I'm not against girls wrestling boys, but some of the private Christian schools have rules against a boy wrestling a girl and they simply forfiet the individual match, no matter how important it is.

when you say Muslim school do you mean public school with Muslims attending or a Muslim school that should be forced by the gov to do things some Muslims do not want to do?

a public school is not a Muslim school, if they want religious exceptions, they need to start a private school... just like Christians do

No it wasn't classy. If Muslims were classy they wouldn't put other people in situations like this--and expect others to sacrifice for their...destructive...beliefs. When kids join a league, they should expect to follow the rules and expect to play. What a downer for those kids that were told that they wouldn't play after showing up..because of the dratted girls. And shame on that coach for pulling the girls. He second rated the girls just like the Muslim team did. The muslim team should be kicked out of the program.

Watch out. You might be persuaded that secularism is more dangerous than religion.

It had nothing to do with the belief shouldn't play sports. It simply was about Islam's rule forbidding contact with girls. Just because you don't understand the subtle aspects of islam doesn't make this situation destruction.

And they did follow the rules. Forfeiting is always an option within the rules.

Why not kick the Christian team from the program? They're the ones who pulled the girls off the field. They didn't follow the rules. The Muslims never once even asked for that accommodation.

The Christian coach ought to be fired. The Muslim team should be kicked out. Both of them discriminated against girls who should be able to play. You really respect the belief that girls shouldn't be able to play soccer? Perhaps you are comfortable telling your daughter that she has to demean herself for the good of respecting some else's belief that she doesn't belong on the field but as a parent I would expect my daughter to play and I would be furious she would be put in this situation where she's a problem. Some things are not worth respecting and this is one of them.

It would be interesting if you held the same attitude towards......lets say a team of white boys that didnt want to touch a team with black boys/ girls in it.

Usually what happens is Muslims end up crying intolerance and some bloviating womens rights group jump in & blow it all out of proportion.

If push had come to shove...this IS America...(If there are gender specific teams yet no spot on a girls team...a girl can play on a boys team.)

For once it didnt end up in a "shove"...both attempted to understand the other side and the one team offered to forfeit.
