What's the percentage of murders in this country that actually make it to the national news? Seems to me that should be an important number considering the folks who seem to think the national news should interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to alert you to every new murder that occurs.

The media is a business, not a national service. They report what they think will get ratings and people tuning in because at the end of the day, they aren't selling news or viewpoints, they're selling advertising. And advertisers want viewers.
