Well Uber wasn't around when I was checking this out and they show servicing no towns in NM. Maybe it's because of the high cost and requirements here, but the point was the cost for an individual to invest in a small business, then the cost on a national level.

The 30,000 figure was based on estimates given by a local law firm, working with a business consultant, to handle the process, which followed two others that wanted nothing to do with an effort. For the record, as said in the last post, we still don't have a taxi service, none exist and for all I know any in the State that are around, were around before the current start up requirements were in place.

The point; If you want to build a Manufacturing Plant in say California, the cost to obtain permits (permission) from the local, then State, then Federal authorities and all the required impact reports, like environmental, alone will cost you more than building and operating a plant in India or China for the first year.

I have been promoting an idea to utilize current GM and other close facilities, simply stated, to give start up business a shot at their ideas, call "Manufacturing Malls" and only have received a couple comments...saying to costly for the potential results. This would bypass most the mentioned original cost, but are still too costly...

there is a reason why people who want to start a business, or growing a business, are leaving places like california as you suggested... which is why other states with much less regulation and burden are seeing increases in new business and existing business... and why they are leading the jobs numbers nationwide...

and I still don't see how they came up with that $30,000 estimate, you might want to really not listen to your "consultant" because you were getting hosed... in a couple hours I was able to find all the information you needed to start a business, what license, permits, and insurance you needed, as well as the inspection on the vehicle to be certified... a couple hours with the internet dude... you could start this business, assuming you already have the vehicle, for a couple thousand dollars, and that includes the permit, license, inspector, meter, and first months insurance so you can drive a taxi legally... but $30,000 heh, they saw you coming...

point being, there are plenty of opportunities in america to own a taxi cab service, and/or now be an Uber or Lyft driver... using your logic, you would have to move to china, and deal with their communist government forcing you to do so much more in order to be a taxi, not to mention your cost of moving, learning a new language, and paying off all the government officials who control the taxi cabs there and need payoffs to become licensed... plus hush money for all the others who will exploit you on a daily basis... welcome to china, I guess you saved, no wait you spent more than it would take in america...

I'm not denying there are state and federal regulations that place a burden on folks, they do, I've dealt with them for the better part of 30 years... including one local ordinance that was designed to ensure bathrooms were clean in all establishments... I'm required by law, to hang a sign in the rest room, of a specific size, detailing hours that the bath room should be cleaned... however, the law doesn't require me to actually clean them... it just requires me to hang the sign... if I don't have the sign I can get fined a couple hundred dollars, if I don't clean the bath room, I get fined nothing... I think thats a clear example of the stupid laws you mean... so believe me, I get it, but I also recognize there is SO much wasted opportunity by americans who hit one roadblock and give up... and thats sad...

P.S. as your new consultant, I will need $27,500 for giving you the information they were apparently charging you for that I found online... I'll mail the bill...

"Capitalism" is a term coined by socialists in the nineteenth century.

Rather than capitalism, I support a system in which each of us has a right to property and in which we are free to do anything we want with our bodies and property as long as we respect other people's body and property.

Once I have the technology to do it, I'm going to claim the sun as my property. I could block earth's view to it without violating anyone's rights. It's my property to do with as I please.

And don't give me some nonsense about having homesteaded a right to sunlight. Me having viewed a neighbor's real property doesn't extinguish his right to put up a big fence.

Highest income, used to pay off your Real Estate Taxes, taxes for your vehicle which you use to go to work, to pay off the vehicle insurance, the health insurance. to pay for basic necessities such as food, fuel, electric, Rent. To pay for permit fees, to pay for parking a vehicle. To pay into Social Security that may or may not be available to you when you retire, or If you retire.

No wonder Americans have no savings. Capitalism like Democracy has always been a lie. It's a lie told to keep the masses working, to not complain, and go along with the flow. Democracy? When and for how long have democracy been practiced in the Western Civilization? Middle Ages? Age of Colonialism? Where was democracy when Europe was divided into Empires , and ran by Monarchies and Aristocracies??

    - - - Updated - - -

Hell, you can't even claim the House you purchase with your "Hard Earned" money. You pay taxes on your land you buy, and the vehicle you buy. What do you own?? Jack sht !

Well, yeah. It's also an incredibly useful term.

If you support bourgeois ownership of the means of production, you support capitalism.

I support free press, free use of your body, etc, and I'm also a communist.

I don't support bourgeois ownership. I support a system in which each of us has a right to property, not just the bourgeoise.

Under communism, how do you know what goods and services to produce?

America where capitalist theory has been adopted more and more fully embraced than any other country.
    But....
America with the highest rates of poverty in the developed world.
America with one of its richest states - California - where nearly 1 in 4 live in poverty
America where the poverty rates are climbing fast
America, the country where international aid agencies may in the next ten year be needed to feed large parts of its population.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_the_United_States

You see, the issue with capitalism is that the entire principle is to make some people very rich at the expense of the majority. America is proving that capitalist theory works - 0.1% of its population now own as much wealth as the bottom 90%.
    http://www.theguardian.com/business...quality-top-01-worth-as-much-as-the-bottom-90

In the near future, the average American will be a peasant with a tiny minority living extremely well having 100% of the wealth, with the remainder nothing. That is the hard unfortunate rule of capitalism.

It is amusing...the pontificating here regarding greed and the poor. Using your technology, education, electricity to bemoan the inequality. And while we are all rich and most of humanity hasn't even for a pair of shoes...you criticize greed and wealth inequality. Shocking.

Wages are exploitative, because it takes away the freedom of the worker to sell their production in the amount that it is actually worth. It locks the worker in a contract with a certain wage for a given amount of time. In a more socialist economy wage labor could be made illegal. Instead everything is based off of commission or the employer contract requires each worker to be given a specified share in ownership of the tool or factory. Publicly traded companies are illegal and all shares are only owned by the workers and owners.
Yes(the working FOR someone else's part on a wage basis). Ownership is split on a worker contract basis between the original owner and worker so that the worker actually has a say in their own production. But are you really saying the factory was completely built on an individual basis? This would depend on how the factory was really funded. For example, what if the tool was funded entirely by taxpayer money. Then the tool should be 100 percent free to use. Obviously, one would need clearance and proof that they have the needed education to use it. Certain tools in a socialized economy may be required to be publicly funded, like healthcare.
This case is extremely specific, but why should these kinds of ideas not be shared freely? Obviously a fair commission would need to be agreed upon. In a more socialized economy, certain commissions would be illegal, because they exploit the producer.

There needs disctinction between Free Market Capitalism, and Crony Capitalism. I'd say the Former, have only existed in remote 3rd world regions where governments do not even exist.

Do you understand that poverty rates of a nation is determined by comparing the income of the individual, to the average income of all others within the nation? What is considered poverty levels of income in the US with a high average income, is not considered poverty in a nation with lower average incomes. Not to mention that most all of the other developed nations with lower poverty rates you want to compare to, are also capitalist. Anything other than other CAPITALIST nations to compare to?

Globally, you are the greedy and wealthy. Sell your laptop, turn your electricity off, and use the funds to feed the starving.

Invariably it is some utopian socialist nation they have imagined in their own mind, which they compare to. One only needs to look at the nations who have identified as Socialist or Communist, to see why they must instead imagine an alternative.

It's much more simple. They criticize American greed with technology, electricity, and (inferior) education when people are starving... They don't have any desire to sacrifice so those less fortunate may eat. They are jealous. Envy is so unbecoming.
