Fair point. Proceed. Just be careful what you ask for. You just might get it.

I will tell you that the GOP cannot afford to look like they are blocking a Moderate SCJ Nominee.

The chances of the GOP winning the Presidency are 1 in 3.78.

    LMFAO!

The chances of a GOP winning is huge.

Bernie and Hillary aren't young or half-black like Obama is. They are old, dry, and boring.

The Democrat base is not rived up this election like the Republican base is.

I mean, they have a real shot at it, in theory. But if you look at the electoral map, I just don't see a path for any of these Republicans to get to 270 electoral votes. Maybe Trump can do it. But I don't see Rubio doing it. Cruz will lose all states with huge metropolitan areas. He will play well in middle american though. But in Urban areas he will certainly lose to either Bernie or Hilary. If they were to win 2 of Ohio/Virginia/NC, Cruz or Rubio have no shot.

    Why?

I usually vote GOP but we don't need in 2016 an Ultra-Conservative on the SC.

WE don't want a total Liberal either.

    WE NEED A MODERATE!!!

Take a look at the numbers.

Hillary is way ahead and I dislike her.

I have nothing against a Female President...just NOT HER!!

As things stand now, I'll either be voting third-party or sitting this presidential election out. Republicans blocking a moderate will encourage me to vote for Clinton, as sick to my stomach such a vote would make me.

There's a lot of time for that to change and an opportunity for average voters to have a direct influence on a SC nomination may just be what is needed to wake them up.

It is the President's Constitutional duty to nominate a Supreme Court Justice whenever a vacancy occurs.

Its not Obama that is lame duck, it is the GOP Congress that is the lame duck. Obama defeats lame duck GOP Congress every time he chooses to.

    Not mandatory.

The Senate Republicans only have to have one Republican stay behind to keep the Senate in session.

Yes it is mandatory. The Senate must be out of session for the new Senate to be seated.

Obama could nominate a far right justice and they would still reject them. They simply do not want to be seen by conservative voters as "working with the enemy".

McConnell is blocking a bill to fund 9/11 first responsders' healthcare coverage. He is willing to let American heros suffer and die to avoid working with Obama. Refusing to confirm a SCOTUS nomination is nothing to scum like him.
