Happy Independance Day! The fireworks have already started in my neighborhood. We'll be blowing up about $1000 tonight ourselves. I like living just outside the city limit.

OK, maybe $600 and several neighbors will be joining us. I'm not sure how much my brother is bringing. He usually goes overboard on holidays.

    Why? would firecrackers feel slighted,unless.
Frankly I can't stand the 4th.It was my old man's Birthday and he died 20 years
ago.Plus I grew to loath loud noises. It upset my dogs terribly.I've had to lecture the
neighbors about too much 4th of july fireworks.I remember one summer that we
had a couple weeks of very humid, stuffy weather. The air was stagnant. No wind to
speak of.That meant that all that Fireworks crap was lingering near earth instead
of going up to the clouds. My One neighbor was gone on vacation and he let his
daughter invite her boyfriend over.He went nuts.It was after midnight and he
was still standing in the middle of the street shooting off fireworks.I yelled out a
couple times for him, that's enough, already. He just kept it up.I walked right up to him
and was about to put him in a WWF bear Hug and squeeze half his guts out onto
the street. He kept yellin' he was gonna call the cops.I said be my quest. You don't
even live here ... you Punk. That was maybe in late 1990's.

So you tho't you had the right to lecture your neighbor about 'to much fireworks'? Did he obey you? It's other people's holiday too, you know.

Today is my g'daughter's b'day, so a lot of celebrating today, then I came home to watch the Macy's 4th of July on tv and it was beautiful w/the patriotic songs......

There is NO right to Loud noises ... Ya dope. The only exception is on the 4th.
But even then it has to stop sometime.I think it is recommended from sundown 9PM
to no later than Midnight. There is no right to disrupt people from their nighttime sleep.
People have to go to work the next day.Unless the 4th falls on a Friday,Saturday.
If it falls on a sunday, then the next day is still a work day.
Personally I think Fireworks is kid sh!t.It's what Kids live to do in summer.
get a hold of firecrackers and shoot them off.Dogs do not like Firecrackers.
It makes them very skittish.Same with Horses and most farm animals.
Why Humans don't seem to mind, puzzles me.Then Farm animals aren't
serial killers or the equivalent.Or play with matches.
Sometimes humans don't have the sense God Gave geese.
    Most Politicians ... anywho.

Well, crab! crab! snarl! snarl! all you want - haven't you learned by now that's not going to stop people from making their noise on a legit holiday when it's allowed?

I do agree about the animals and it's not only dogs who get stressed out over the noise, but cats, etc also. The best thing a pet owner can do is - if not get them a tranquilizer from the vet - then provide the dog w/an small, dark enclosed area, like a closet, for them to go into. Cats are quick to find their own secluded area....

Anyway, quit your grumbling and try to enjoy your day.....

I don't understand converting hard earned money to smoke and noise.

Then why did you not title your thread, "Happy Independence Day"?

As I headed into the big city yesterday,I noticed one of those big tents at the side
of the road who set up shop every year, selling Fireworks. They were still open.
Then I saw one of their ads on a big plack outside the tent.
