I learned that it was not funded properly, nor was it as rich and open as the American West. Nor was it fully undertaken by the government.

 

Liberia was not in North America, nor was it unoccupied, nor were the logistics of moving millions of people by sea a reasonable undertaking.

You said "all slaves should have been given territory to form their own country," and even if it wasn't in the Union that was already the plan with Liberia. Any history book can tell you that.

They're trying to segregate themselves. And they do this naturally, as do most other groups.

 

Again Liberia as I stated was logistically impossible and financially incredibly expensive . Giving them land in the west that unoccupied by American settlers would have been logistically much simpler, and far far more inexpensive.

 

There is no way the freed blacks had the sophistication to organize community. Building, farming, marketing, home economics, are fairly complex to coordinate - just not going to be in the former slaves' tool box.

OK, you have a point then. 40 million blacks here in the US, and only 3000 or so are members of the radical NBPP.

However, why do Progressives always use the KKK as a reference to all of white America when trying to make their point?

After all, there are an estimated 230 million whites in the US, with an estimated 5000 to 8000 members of the KKK.

I am sure I read that Malcolm X campaigned for self segregation - Farakhann is. Martin Luther King did not campaign for segregation, but for education; inevitably, so blacks could write law.

Indians did not manage to stop expansion of white settlers, so I doubt they would fare much better against the former slave state. Plus the main conflicts happened when settlers kept coming pushing further and further west. I think the US government could have arranged certain land for the new state in some sort of agreement with what ever tribe would have issue. It would have been far less expensive and counterproductive then what happened in the South. We would not have the race issues we have today, we would not have a minority of people sucking away huge not proportional resources. The civil war and the handling of its aftermath, has cost this country dearly, we are still paying for this mistake.

Just take a look at Zimbabwe. They chased/killed off all the white farmers and now they can't figure out how to run the farms.

 

Membership only tells so much of the story. I would be shocked if the NBPP wasn't supported by a larger amount of the overall black population than the KKK is with whites.
