I once heard a cover of Jimi Hendix "And the Wind Cries Mary" by Pat Boone. Yes that Pat Boone, the 105 yr old gospel singer. That's gotta qualify for this list.

I'm not sure what has already been covered in this thread, but the 70s were bad decade for music. The ones that bothered me the most were the songs they played over-and-over-and-over again, as though there were people who actually wanted to hear them.

My most hated of all was Dream Weaver; over 4 minutes of excruciating misery every time it came on. But a close second would be Gilbert O'Sullivan's Alone Again, Naturally. That song could really send one into a deep state of depression.

I wonder how many people thought a Gilbert O'Sullivan Concert was a Gilbert and Sullivan concert and wondered which play that was from.
At least Alone again, Naturally told a simple story of a man who lost both parents.
Can somebody explain why some other idiot invoked the memory of that song by inserting
"25 years old, my mother God rest her soul" in a song about nothing.

Little Jimmy Dickins was deliberately being ridiculous...it was SUPPOSED to be a silly song.

'Heavy Metal' and 'Grunge' are quite different things.

Bad music? The first Sunday after I'd left the Church choir a congregation member was heard to say 'Thank goodness the organ's been repaired'. :frown:

My own music, well only because by the time it's mixed and ready to go I have heard it so much I could puke (and have)... That's why it takes me 4-6 months to do a track and at least a year to drop a record...

It sounds like gold 5 years later tho... But producing my own music is a terrible job.....

These Ukranian girls put a lot of thought and effort into their attempt to persuade One Direction to visit their home country. However, it is cringe worthy.
I wonder if after four years, they wince knowing this is still out for everyone to watch.

I can produce other peoples stuff..... With my own (*)(*)(*)(*) tho - it's not terrible or even bad, it's actually good but it sounds terrible to me after a while because I have to get it perfect so I constantly have to listen to it thru all these takes and takes and takes.... Imagine if you had to listen to the same song over and over and always had something to add every time you heard it.....

I suppose it just seems I'm never satisfied with my own music.... Perhaps it seems on face value I'm OCD with it but .... That's why I haven't made music in the last 2+ years, but I can mix others music, I have a different standard for myself or my music than I do when it comes to others...

This Swedish piece of crap was popularised mostly as a form of joke about 10 years ago and I absolutely despised it back then and I still do today. The poor electronic composition, the song and the lyrics just ugh. Now the song is in Swedish and non-Swedes won't understand anything, but it is not like there is anything to understand (and if you really like I could provide a translation). Just listen to this garbage.

I just finished my new opera: Clinton, George Clinton, a sequel to Alexander Hamilton, about 75 songs for 2 men and a choir.

I've heard a couple/few Japanese songs that were just god awful. I wish I knew the names of them so I could post them. :bleh: It was the most terrible music I've ever heard. Not only was it bad but annoying too, as in grating on your nerves.

To me, there is no such thing as "the worst music". I don't care for opera anymore than I care for rap....I just don't listen to either, but that doesn't mean I hate it. I can handle polka music at WI type weddings but I don't listen to it on a daily basis. I've been to symphony performances but don't rush out and buy their music. I do like more ambient music when I'm in the mood. Right now I'm listening to some old classic Natalie Merchant....Ophelia.

Speaking of Natalie Merchant. A somewhat sexist comment, but an element of truth? Female singers are notorious for being careerists. They use membership in a band to leverage personal popularity, then strike out on their own. Loyalty to a band is not part of their worldview. Who cares about Ten Thousand Maniacs?

So you have Miami Sound Machine > Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine > Gloria Estefan. Former bandmates now become employees.

Remember Big Brother and the Holding Company? Watch the video that shows Janis Joplin mocking her bandmates to their faces, telling them nobody wants to hear musicians, they only want to hear the singer.

    Gwen Stefani, Bjork...

Taking on a female singer is often death to a band.
