Commercial pilot explains why AF-1 as used by Obama is wrong

It's New York.... every time you fly in there you have to expect delays. I think the shortest delay I've ever had flying in there was an hour. You've got three major airports, all on top of each other. Have you ever listened in to some of their ATC feeds? It's nuts. I've got infinite respect for the controllers there - if anyone anywhere earns their pay, it's got to be them.

 

i went back to read over again the complaint. I suggest all readers return to it to check it out completely.

First, while Bush was notorious for being punctual, Obama is notorious for not being punctual. There is more to this than merely a pilot. He had passengers. He suggested a solution to Obama's problem.

It has been many years since I flew out of NY City and just do not recall if we left late or not.

I understand how busy NY City is with their airports.

It is a global center. Also notice this pilot flew to JFK from Asia. He started to notice problems over Montana. It is troubling that the Feds are so messed up that he had to fly donuts in the sky and burn off fuel. All to convenience Obama being late as usual.

 

Actually when G.W. bush moved into the White House, it was trashed by the Clinton White House staff. It wasn't so nice, even graffiti was on the walls. The White House was also burglarized by Hillary Clinton. It was a crime scene.

What would be more accurate, the taxpayers gave the Obama's a nice home to live in compared to living in the hood of South Chicago.

But with in months the White House was infested by Chicago sewer rats and cockroaches that followed the Obama's from Chicago to 1600 Pennsylvania.Ave.

I'm not making this up. The Obama's feel right at home.

And what has the Obama's affect on home values has had in the neighborhood of the White House ? They took a big dive when the Obama's moved in. Even the White House dropped over $15 million in value. As the old saying goes, "There goes the neighborhood."

If Trump becomes POTUS, Trump will be taking a huge step down by moving into the White House compared to Trump's private residence. I wonder what improvements to the White House Trump will be making ?

If Hillary becomes POTUS we can expect the White House becoming National Lampoons "Animal House" again. That how the FBI describe the Clinton White House ( 1993-2000 ) Drugs, a "cocaine den" drugs, graffiti, cum stains on the walls and carpet, drugs, broken lamps that Hillary would throw at Bill, drugs. And I doubt Hillary would exterminate Obama's rats and cockroaches.

Perhaps Trump will "redo" the WH in Gold gilt, Chandeliers, marble and BASTARD French Provincial.

IIRC, they vacated that house but still own it because to use it as their home would have put all their neighbors and their neighbors guests' through something equivalent to having work release from a maximum security prison.

When my son in law lived with his parents in SunnyVale, CA, Bill Clinton would show up to visit his buddy who lived 2 doors from my SIL father. Every time, it caused the court to be blocked off by the Secret Service. And his dad and mom were trapped in their own home.

The title of this thread is bogus. This should be that A Commercial Pilot Has An Opinion That AF 1 Is Being Used Incorrectly.... The use of AF1 is a policy issue and gas been used thus way since at least the time of Bush II.

Read one more time. All Obama had to do is be on time and the flight would have landed 30 minutes early. As it was, it got there a hour later than it needed to.

The way I figure it, the President is never late - he gets there precisely when he means to. Cut the man some slack - he's got a pretty hefty workload. I really don't care of the airliner had to wait.... first off, like I said earlier, waiting is all part of flying into New York. Secondly, airlines can only make money because they're using publicly-owned airspace governed by a publicly-operated air traffic system - the least they can do is to give back a little and give the President right of way.

He expects the President to "take a helicopter"? You do realize the communications systems aboard Marine One are nowhere near what they are aboard AF-1, right? Moreover, he expects the President to spend all of that extra time in the air? I think he probably has better things to do with his time, don't you?

That pilot needs to get a grip. I'll echo Margot... who the hell does he think he is?

Oh really? Bush is well known for his ability to get to his destination on time. His meetings were on time. His visits were on time.

And so you don't mind Obama is never on time.

I don't buy it that he is too dumb to meet a schedule.

I care that had he not had to fly an extra hour, it would save fuel. It would have mattered to the passengers. Obama is no god.

Bush had AF-1 outfitted to be state of the art. Fortunately for Obama, Bush was foresighted that way. You still put the president above everybody.

No, had Obama just been on time, that airline pilot would have landed half an hour early and not burned an hour of fuel lollygagging around due to the very late Obama.

It's like that story about when LBJ was leaving Camp David once and he was so intent on the discussion he was having that he walked past Marine One toward the Baggage Chopper and the Crew Chief ran up to him and informed him that wasn't his chopper....
