It was more important to promote diversity in a sport that was majority white so they allowed the two black athletes to break the rules
You seen how they threw the book at the white tennis player that broke the doping rule for taking a drug much less potent then drugs they allowed those black athletes to take

Stopping short of condoning the actions of the hackers, Russian president Putin said the documents they had released had raised “a lot of questions”.

He added: “It seems as if healthy athletes are taking drugs legally that are prohibited for others, and people who are clearly suffering from serious illnesses, major disabilities, are suspected of taking some kind of substances and banned from the Paralympic Games".

The Cold War rhetoric was cranked up by Russia’s world 110 metres hurdles champion Sergey Shubenkov, who accused Western countries of “hypocrisy” over their use of doctor’s notes to enable athletes to take otherwise-banned substances.

He added: “I’m being punished for insufficient zero-tolerance of doping in my country. But now it appears that doping is actually acceptable in some cases, under some conditions.” Friday’s leaks saw details revealed of Trott’s legitimate medical use of an otherwise-banned asthma inhaler, while history-making boxer Adams had her inhaler use and that of a corticosteroid disclosed. Both were also permissible.

It's not jealousy, unless you think Russians should be jealous of nations who use corruption and power to hurt others rather than compete ... as being superior because of their lack of scruples.

    This is from TASS:

Earlier today, the hacker group has published the names of another 11 athletes from five countries who had a therapeutic permission to use doping.

They include Britons Nicola Adams the 2016 Olympic gold medalist in the women's flyweight division; Laura Trott, the 2016 Olympic champion in cycling; Siobhan-Marie O'Connor, the Olympic silver medalist in swimming; and Olivia Carnegie-Brown (silver medalist in rowing); Danish bronze swimming medalist Jeanette Ottesen; representatives of Australia Kim Brennan (Olympic rowing champion), Alexander Belonogov (silver medalist in rowing) and cyclist Jack Bobridge; Spaniard Mireia Belmonte Garcia (Olympic swimming champion); German shooter Julian Justus and tennis player Laura Siegemund.

TUEs exist so that athletes who suffer from legitimate medical conditions can seek treatment. In the case of the three Australian TUEs leaked today, the athletes were approved to use medication to treat serious medical conditions, including allergic reactions and rheumatoid arthritis.

Why go to the Olympics athletes with serious medical conditions? And why is not allowed to be treated with such drugs to the Russian sportsmen? :)

    I know, right?

Why in the world did an athlete take meldonium for over 10 years? This drug is used to treat serious heart conditions and has side effects of increasing endurance and improving aerobic abilities.

Cry me a river about Serena taking approved by the WTA medication for her ADHD.

Wada fears for future as Olympic chiefs take aim over Russia’s ban at Rio 2016

Fears are growing for the future of the World Anti-Doping Agency amid concerns that the International Olympic Committee wants to neuter, sideline or even replace it as punishment for calling for a blanket ban on Russian athletes at the Rio Olympics.

At a Wada thinktank on Tuesday there were open discussions about how the IOC was considering establishing an “integrity unit” responsible for corruption, match-fixing and anti-doping in a move that could be used to erode Wada’s powers.

Discussions on the future of anti-doping are expected to take place between the IOC, Wada and other stakeholders at a special Olympic summit on 8 October in Lausanne. Bach has called on IOC members to come forward with ideas.

    Er, no.

My dog has seasonal allergies, and when they act up, we give him prednisone to suppress his immune system (allergies are a result of an out-of-control immune system response) and reduce the inflammation associated with the allergies.

    It is hardly deathbed stuff.

It is also, as other posters have pointed out, NOT a performance-enhancing steroid. Which makes this thread particularly stupid.

Er ... why SHOULDN'T you be in sports if you want to be and can compete?

Not all "serious medical conditions" are equal. Some are acute; some are chronic. Some are life-threatening, some are "quality of life" issues.

Hmm... so someone is not just officially allowed to practice doping for profit, but to be high on dope while doing it as well... That's what I call living the dream...

My condolences on your heart condition. Walking 10 paces must be taxing for you.

You clearly are not an elite athlete on the pro tennis tour.

    More ignorance from you.

Take a good look at that old picture of Sharapova. I hope for her sake, she does not end up with a truly negative side affect from taking that drug for over 10 consecutive years, you know growing an Adam's apple or a pair of testicles.

Serena Williams will always be superior to Sharapova.

    ???

look, i tried meldonium not because i'm ill or something.

right, just a ordinary guy, i took meldonium as some kind of supplement, not cure; didn't feel any effect though.

don't try to impress by desperate wording for no other arguments.

as far as pictures go, compare the two, see who is a doper? it isn't Sharapova.

at what? at popping steroids and bodybuilding?
