The Republicans in the House & Senate are screwed over Obamacare.

Why? Cause they know very well that if they pass a plan that does NOT require coverage for pre-existing conditions, does NOT prohibit insurers from dropping coverage when someone gets sick or raising premiums/deductibles when when someone gets sick, many Americans will be very mad.

And if tens of millions of Americans lose their coverage with the new GOP plan, there is a HUGE chance that the Democrats will galvanize their supporters with this and the general anger at Trump over lots of other things, to win back the Senate and maybe even the House.

So, the GOP is screwed. And they know it. If they are smart, they will not repeal Obamacare, but simply fix it/amend it.

Yep....it's a math problem, and as we have seen, the GOP isn't very good at math. To them, it's an article of faith, and faith doesn't lend itself to math very well.

Actually, the requiring coverage is a BIG problem of the ACA. It creates what we know as a monopoly in the health care market, which has allowed these out-of-pocket costs to spiral out of control(as I predicted in 2010, and have since come to realize upon studying economics.). The worst part is the Democratic denial of Across-State-Lines. The irony of trying to create a National Health Care plan, without making it actually National is beyond absurd.

And the only reason for it, is that said improvements "would take time". Yes, it actually takes time to build a national system where one wasn't there before! But taking time is crucial to anything that would work. And if for that time taken to create a true national system where we would then get savings, its worth it. Even if it didn't payoff "immediately". That's what an investment actually is.

You should actually question ANY investment that provides immediate returns(even though investors generally want to find quick ones.). Something like the ACA that promised immediate returns, would have definitive flaws in it. It should've never passed Congress and is worse than the former system(even if it's better for 15% of Americans.)

The other major problem with the ACA was its over-dependence on "healthy, young Americans" who frankly neither had the income to afford healthcare, nor would they want to even if they could. Not because they're invisible, but because they have other priorities(mortgage, college, families) then to pay off some insurance company at the behest of Washington DC.

Corporate lobbyists wrote the bill, Pelosi didn't bother to read it and some are still defending the indefensible: A corporate bill meant to rip off everyone, and rip off everyone it has. The only thing is that the greedy bastards were so greedy it swallowed them whole too. It was bad, even for them. So of course we're going to change it.

tens of millions of people losing their coverage, no more coverage for pre-existing conditions, no more preventing insurance companies from dropping coverage due to people gettign sick, no more preventing insurance companies from increasing premiums and deductibles when someone gets sick?

that is a great recipe for the GOP losing the Senate and maybe even the House in 2018.

No one's going to lose their coverage(considering the very limited coverage ALREADY). Premiums have been increasing(albeit at a "slower rate". Thanks to the CAP written in the Law. One of the few good tidbits in the crapfested law.) If we make it a TRUE National Health Care system, no one will be dropped from being sick.

People want a good healthcare system, and it can be provided by improving over Crap Care.

They should leave it alone and allow it to crash under its own weight, then it will be on the dems and the dems alone.

actually, based on what we know of the GOP plan, millions will lose their Medicaid coverage.

and if companies are now able to kick people off simply for being sick, many more may be kicked off.

GOP will pass their plan, and then they own the results

I wanna be elected and pass MY plan, not the GOP plan. My plan is to fix health care, give people coverage but give them the choices in their coverage :D.
