    Only three months ago:

...there’s no doubt Comey’s move “was a contributing factor in this election.” With Trump in the White House, Crowley added, no federal investigation into Russia’s influence is reliable.
(Rep. Joseph Crowley (N.Y.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus)

“I can’t speak for Democrats, but I can speak for myself, and I think that James Comey needs to fade away into oblivion,” said Rep. G.K. Butterfield(D-N.C.), former head of the Congressional Black Caucus. “He embarrassed this nation, he possibly influenced the outcome of a presidential election, and he should not hold any position of trust, whatsoever, in our government.”

Lying trump, his cheesy family, and the avaricious billionaire parasites he has surrounded himself with, are corrupting the entire government. And quickly making their corrupt behavior the accepted way of doing government 'business.' As if it weren't bad enough before.

Probably not. It sends a message to those agents. Hopefully one they will be patriotic enough to ignore.

So Comey made his bed and now he gets to sleep in it.

Lesson to the wise -- if you are the FBI director then don't do anything that influences politics.

I just can't wait for the Joy Behars, Keith Overdumbs, and Rosie O'Donnells to tell us how they feel about Trump firing Director Comey, whom they all hated ...

    before yesterday.

That's a little unfair. Reasonable people, including Trump, can be concerned that government surveillance should be kept to a minimum. Our default position should be "no" to surveillance. We have little privacy as it is.

Democrats used to be on the right side of this issue.

I was somewhat pleased to see Comey's list of Clinton transgressions and disappointed that she was not investigated by a grand jury, but I remarked here at the time that the FBI's interference in the elections was disturbing. It was the strangest thing. Holder, Miller, Gorsick, Reid, Podesta et al were right to denounce Comey. Obama should have removed him after the election.

“While restraint such as these have come and gone over the past half century, a more formal and enduring body of curbs on political and social movements in opposition to the status quo has flourished in the form of a system of political intelligence immune to changes in political climate, judicial scrutiny, executive or congressional control. Largely extralegal, autonomous, and clandestine, this political police system has monitored dissent with ever increasing intensity since the end of World War I.” The Age of Surveillance, The Aims and Methods of America's Political intelligence System, Frank J. Donner, Alfred A. Knopf, Inc., New York, 1980. p. 3.

The Left in power managed to develop a convenient case of amnesia.

@Ddyad you are (1) the only person on my VIP list (following) that does not have an avatar and (2) the only person without an avatar whom I have not put onto my iggy list.

I don't get why you don't get a nice avatar to go with your moniker ?!

You are extremely bright and your views are very valuable.

After listening to Judy Woodruff's guests on tonight's PBS News Hour, particularly Senator Tim Kaine and also the expert from Brookings (I think), I now agree with you that there is no credibility for Trump's reason given for firing Comey.

It looks more like a Nixonian cover-up due to Comey's request for additional funding to investigate the Russia connection.

    Very Nixonian.

As Nixonian as it could possibly get.

That would be a Constitutional crisis, if that's what happens.

Inexplicably Comey Reopened the Clinton Email Case Shortly Before the Election – then Drops It

Shortly before the election it was announced that the FBI was reopening its investigation into Hillary’s emails. Apparently emails recovered in the sex investigation into the pervert Anthony Wiener case ended up being related to the Hillary investigation. Wiener is the husband of Clinton confidant Huma Abedin and reportedly Clinton emails were found on Huma’s computer after Huma stated under oath that all her emails were turned over. In addition, an email released from WikiLeaks at this time showed that Hillary’s longtime assistant Cheryl Mills ordered the email server to be bleached clean. More and more criminal activity was being uncovered daily.

However, within a few days Comey came out again and cleared Clinton for a second time only a few days before the election.

Comey is a clown, he had to go.

The firing was done for many reasons. The final straw was last week when Comey testified. As I said in another thread, Comey was rambling, incoherent, and egotistical. He was unglued. Trump said enough was enough.

I'm still waiting to hear from Democrats one simple thing. If it's bad timing to fire him now, when is the good timing? Never?
Trump isn't even under investigation. His campaign is loosely tied to a counter intelligence investigation, NOT a criminal investigation. Basically, no matter what Trump does, the left is against it. If he proposed a bill to double the funding of everything they love, they would be outraged. If he said he changed his mind, and Comey was not fired, they would be mad he wasn't fired. If Trump wanted to make Obama's birthday a legal holiday, they would be against that. There will never, ever, under any circumstances, be a way for Trump to get along with them. These people are useless trash.

For me this is a place, for the most part, to learn and test ideas. Credentials are useless here. Ideas and arguments ultimately have to stand on their own. Avatars seem a bit too World of Warcrafty for me, and I get enough of that in the real world. But I like to see many of the avatars - yours for instance.

Avatars are nice because it is easy to associate them with members.

And if everyone did NOT use an avatar then it would be tough to scroll quickly through the list of O/P's.

Can't you please find one that you like and use it ???

The MSM reacts reflexively to Trump now. All he has to do now is point at another box canyon and they run right into it.

“There is no incongruity in the fact that a new poll conducted by the Media Insight Project, a joint project of the American Press Institute and the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, finds the American media’s popularity way down with that of Washington politicians. With 2,014 adults surveyed, only 6% expressed “a lot of confidence” in the press.”

“The Media Insight poll found that close to 90% of Americans consider it extremely important or very important that journalists get their facts right. As in RatherGate and so many other cases, the media not only gets the facts wrong but also uses them as political weapons.”
    http://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/only-6-trust-media-but-it-should-be-less/

The MSM, like professional politicians do not have enough credibility left to put much of a dent in Trump.

This firing of Comey has grown to epic Nixonian proportions in 24 short hours.
