In the minorities remain minorities because of a failure to mainstream to the middle class. Decades ago when the Vietnamese first came to The O.C. they were poor, not speaking English, a minority. Today they have candidates in both parties, educated, not on welfare, are they still a minority? Irish, Latinos, Italians, Jews, Asians of all sorts have mainstreamed. Who are the hold outs? Black people who choose to remain in their ghetto and Native Americans who choose to remain on their reservation. No amount of external influence will remedy this "cultural deficiency". Yes to programs to teach motivated individuals to compete competitively for higher education and jobs. No to placement in jobs or higher education with consideration of race, religion, national origin, sexual preference, gender, and all such categorizations that should hold no influence to attain the desired position. All the quota stuff came along under Nixon, most of it after 1970, in fact. Nixon's appeasing the Black Caucus by implementing the Philadelphia Plan against the labor unions and construction contractors was the first domino; the potential for bribes and shakedowns was just too much for the Black Caucus and the NCAAP to resist, even though they were adamantly against replacing AA with quotas in the mid-1960's, as was MLK. They all knew a quota system would completely defeat the entire premise of AA, allowing massive corruption and destroying genuine reforms of schools and allowing merit based achievements, and of course they were right, that's exactly what has happened. It was also the Black Caucus that was screaming for the 'War On Drugs', by the way, and yet I heard some thug on NPR just a few weeks ago claiming it was 'Whitey's plan to undermine black progress n stuff after the Civil Rights Acts', with the interviewer sitting there agreeing with the liar, completely ignorant of the reality.

They had a Black Wall Street in Tulsa. You know how it ended? A white mob killed probably 300 people, 800 knocked in the hospital, 10.000 went homeless.
