Sorry, bubba, but law enforcement officers (of which I also once was) oppose gun control by better than 9 to 1. Maybe you ought to ask yourself why?
Well Pal, not where I live; the police would rather tighter gun controls were in existence throughout the country. It would make their jobs easier and save lives in the meantime.
Explain how such restrictions would do such. Explain how tightened restrictions on firearms would do anything to make the jobs of law enforcement easier, or would do anything to actually save lives.
If criminals don't have access to guns, crime will drop significantly. According to the NRA, your chances of needing a gun to defend yourself are infinitesimal; imagine a society with fewer guns (which are nothing more then instruments of death) where you can walk the streets without worry of being shot. https://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2015/10/21/nra-commentary-admits-the-odds-of-needing-a-gun/206313
I call BS on that. in the latter part of slick willy's term, Janet Reno's DOJ commissioned a huge poll of line police officers on both the brady bill and the "assault weapon ban" . the results were never publicly released due to the results. I was in one of the US Attorney's offices and she had left the study in the mail room and I read it. less than one out of ten line cops supported the Ban and about 88% were opposed to the Brady bill.
if people don't need guns to defend themselves, then we don't need laws that restrict them from buying guns that they use for hunting, target shooting, etc
The only way that criminals won't have access to guns is if no one has access to guns. None of my guns have killled anyone in the thousands of shots I've fired with them. What's all this about instruments of death? How do you propose to get to "fewer guns"?
Here's a recent survey: https://www.policeone.com/Gun-Legis...ey-11-key-lessons-from-officers-perspectives/
According to several of the anti-gun clack posting here would call that anecdotal evidence (unless of course it supports their position and then it’s called science), Know a lot in LE, do you? Live in NY, CA, or one of the other handful of leftist bastions? I know a considerable number of people in LE and that position on gun control would be in the minority. Most I know fault lieniency among the court systems. I suspect those posting here that are current, exLE or train with them would counter your claim with there anecdotal evidence. The there are the dozens of links I have posted elsewhere in this forum in other threads that show large numbers of LE saying they won’t support infringements on the 2A, along with top cops suggesting law abiding citizens arm themselves in places like Detroit, Milwaukee Colorado and Florida.
Because they're a segment of the "deplorables". As Obama correctly noted: "They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
Ha ha, and you agree with that? Well, ok, then. I suppose you believe those with guns are compensating for their size. There’s the Deplorables as you call them and the herd Sheeple that drink coolaid at the trough. Funny, though, more guns were sold under Obama’s watch than any comparable time segment in US history, so many that I used to joke he was the top shill marketer for the gun industry.
Probably because ever time a shooting made the national news, the Obama climbed atop the fresh bodies and talked about the evils of 'assault weapons', the virtues of Australian gun control laws, and how the NRA refuses to acquiesce...er...compromise.
Ah. So when The Obama said all the things he said in this context, he lied about his position, preferences and intentions. Interesting. How do you know this?
your postings suggest your real issue is the voting patterns of legally armed citizens not the actions of criminals who cannot legally possess the firearms they use to commit crimes with
Well, "pal", I don't think you're being honest. I have trained with and have friendships with law enforcement officers from all over the country, from many different agencies, and about the only ones that would support what you claim are all political appointees with zero street experience and zero credibility with the officers and agents actually doing the meat of the Job. Gun control doesn't save lives either. ...And the only way to keep criminals from having "access to guns" is to put them in prison. All one needs is the willingness to circumvent the law and they can get any kind of gun they want.
well your post history has been critical of legally armed citizens because we all know criminals cannot possess firearms legally. did you tell us who you voted for in the last presidential election? I voted for Trump based on my prediction as to who he would appoint to the courts
sure you do; guns used for hunting, target shooting, etc can be kept at the clubs armory and you can check out the gun for the day's hunting, target shooting, etc.
If the need for guns was so great as you maintain, then why would the NRA weight in with their position?
