They said they would. They have done that in the past as well. No reason to think Russia and China would like to see the US army at their border after they dealt with NK. That, and the US bombing NK would make millions of poor uneducated buggers flee to Russia and China. The most undesirable refugees ever.

The way I see it is that eventually you have to deal with north Korea. The situation there is not sustainable and eventually whatever leader it has will show weakness and then the chaos starts. The internal factions will fight amongst themselves and with their back to a wall that dictator has a couple of nukes to send out in spite at the world that didn't play with them. My thought is Seoul or Japan takes a nuclear hit. He might want to strike at America but he probably can't yet.

It all depends on who is hated the most. It will be a dying blow. One of the main problems is he keeps on testing weapons to make them better. A surgical strike is not going to take out their capabilities. I am quite sure north Korea keeps their research in multiple locations, and their weapons grade nuclear material and ability to make reactors in multiple locations. You just cannot take out their knowledge and resources to the point you can stop them from quickly re establishing a weapon.

China will never let the US have a land base where it controls north Korea and locks down their nuclear capability. It would be a new front and would weaken them way too much. The only thing I can think of is if we actually had a strategist in the white house and not Donnie dunder head would be to let Russia take and secure north Korea. China obviously cannot, and the Russians already have relations and a land border with China. They already have nukes and they could secure them under a more stable regime. However, that would involve giving Russia world support to do so and we all know that is not happening.

I actually think this war is something that needs to be done. It is only a matter of time before one of those nukes goes off. We do not need such a crazy regime with capabilities to strike anywhere in the world. That being said I do not want Donnie little hands in charge of this war.

 

More fake news with more unnamed sources. We can add this to the pile of discredited stories of late such as the Mueller fired by Christmas and Trump bank account being searched. Oh and don't forget the famous golden showers. LOL

That's the key factor: China. I have no doubt that they control the DPRK and their nuclear capability. For the US to initiate a first strike on a power that would never initiate a first strike is silly. OTOH, like Kim, threatening to do so is a different matter but it does make the US look silly to treat Kim as both an equal and a feared enemy.

 

That means that China will most likely become involved. I hope Cheeto knows what he is doing.
