Trump echoed some of his earlier positions, like arming teachers, restricting gun access for the mentally ill, and improving background checks. But he also went further - to the LEFT - by saying stuff like,

He also flatly rejected the idea of adding concealed carry reciprocity to the bill, saying,

And he even went so far as to suggest the following:

That "Dianne" by the way, is Dianne Feinstein, and her proposal is to ban assault rifles.

I love pretty much all of this (except the arming teachers), but I will really love seeing how the Trumpettes react.

Here's a handy image for anyone who wants to keep claiming it is Democrats that want to take your guns.

And just in case the point was lost on anyone, trump just explicitly championed the talking point that was used by the NRA against obama and clinton.

Our government is corrupt, and we know now that the Constitution does not hold sway over it.

    The Republic is dead.

There is no argument against your post. It is factually correct.
This is a major major issue for me. He better change his tune really fast. This is one area he better not try the art of the deal on. My rights arent open to deals. He ran on supporting the 2nd not taking it down. This is a you can keep your Dr. moment for me. If Trump wants to lose his supporters this is the very best most efficient way to do so. I better see a recant or Ill begin making the lefts criticism look like compliments.

If I implied you do I apologize. Nobody wants gun-violence or massacres of any kind.
But gun violence is, unfortunately, a side effect of Trumps crazy liberal gun laws.
My original point stands; don't be fooled by Trumps cease-fire talk. He's just selling lemons.
With Trump nothing will ever come of reduction in gun-violence.

Thus by supporting Trump's gun laws one, by proxy, supports such gun-violence. And the worst massacres.

the last massacre was caused because of the FBI dropping the ball not gun laws.

The FBI should never have needed to check the background of Nikolas Cruz because he should never have been able to purchase a AR15 assault rifle!! Or any gun at random. Period.

That statement contradicts itself. The background checks worked, they identified him as a threat but did nothing. You cant remove someones rights before that.

Well trump does surprisingly speak the truth when he says "the GOP is scared to death" of the NRA. More to the point, scared of losing their generous bribes/contributions.

Yes you can when it comes to guns. There just needs to be the (political) will to make it happen.
Guns of any kind shouldn't be in the hands of any citizen, except the military, police etc.

There are enough countries (like the UK) where gun violence is non existent, simply because the law rules correct.

1.2. What are the basic principles of firearms law in the UK?
UK firearms policy is based on the fact that firearms are dangerous weapons and the State has a duty to protect the public from their misuse.
Gun ownership is a privilege, not a right. Firearms control in the UK is among the toughest in the world, and as a result firearms offenses continue to make up a small proportion (less than 0.2%) of recorded crime [ONS 2012/13].

So, there is no reason why the US can't become one of those countries.
No constitutional piece of paper is worth the mass shootings of the past.

We ow it to slain high school students and accidentally shot toddlers everywhere to eradicate gun-cancer from the US.

But don't count on Trump for the cure. He has no heart for his country.

    Nor any heart at all.

That is pretty much what Trump said. "Take the gun first, then go for Due Process second."

    LOL.

Trump would have to turn into a decent human being before I supported him. I just applaud his effort on this one issue - both because I like the policy and because I like the effect his endorsement of that policy will have on his base.

Do you support Trump wanting to deprive you of a firearm without due process?

If I supported Trump on everything he says I would have to be labeled a raging leftie CNN, MSNBC supporter as they are the only people who follow lockstep.

As per your "petrified of the NRA" headline. They should be. The NRA is 5 million strong and growing every day and we vote.
