Think again, this president got where he was in life by screwing others. This time around he's screwed the American people. He might want to build hotels in Russia someday, cannot hurt to have Putin on his side.
Tough call, but I think he should let Mueller question him. If Mueller has insisted that he is not trying to entrap the president he should be pressed to provide written interrogatories before any direct questioning.
Okay. lots of possible crime-busting land to explore without 'collusion'. I almost wish nobody in the media had ever discussed the word in relation to the probe. One dead end street, does not stop a driver from finding real roads that lead to real destinations. Mueller is a very experienced driver and he has already traveled down several with some convictions and plea bargains resulting. We have to stop seeing success or failure of this investigation in terms of impeachable offenses or even in terms of Trump. He does not have to be the 'prize'. If Mueller finds and convicts other legal breaches by other administration officials, its still what prosecutors do for a living and well worth doing. Even a statement from him saying there is no evidence against Trump, is of real value to this country.
Money Laundering, Obstruction of Justice, Abuse of Executive Power, Etc. Mueller hasn't even gotten started yet. Totally LMAO at these Trumpies still referencing "Collusion". Collusion?
Trump is a nightmare client and he can barely even find anyone to represent him anymore. When your too sleezy even for lawyers lol
That’s fine if there is assurance that misspeaks or lapses of memory are not used as entrapment. Written questions would be acceptable. Mueller is certainly capable of asking the right questions to obtain the required information.
My point in the post as re-edited is actually much broader. I will quote the finished product so you will see what I meant in a larger context. "Okay. lots of possible crime-busting land to explore without 'collusion'. I almost wish nobody in the media had ever discussed the word in relation to the probe. " This journey has been turned into a partisan one, where 'getting' Trump, is more important than prosecuting administration criminal conduct on any level or declaring it absent. We will all regret it if we lose sight of what this 'special counsel statute' is really supposed to do. I am okay if Mueller says that Trump did nothing but others deserved to get caught and punished for disobeying federal statutes. His power as special counsel to say what isn't true, is a power that we should respect.
Lol! You don’t get to pick and choose! You either answer, plead the fifth or claim executive privledge. They did none of those and trump protects them.
Correct. Beyond that I have seen nothing that would indicate that Mueller is a formidable cross examiner.
Mueller is the cover-up. He is covering up the Obama administration's "brazen plot to exonerate Hillary Clinton" and "frame an incoming president with a false Russian conspiracy," FBI whistleblower William D. Campbell - who gathered evidence of a Russian "uranium dominance strategy" which included millions of dollars routed to a Clinton "charity". Campbell testified before three Congressional committees in February. The Campbell connection makes it all the more interesting since Trump is reportedly considering adding Toensing to his legal team. Trump would be teaming up with two veteran bulldog D.C. attorneys - one of whom has evidence in the Uranium One scandal. As Sherman points out in Vanity Fair, "The hiring of Toensing would be a sign that Trump wants to flip the script and investigate his investigators. Appearing on Fox News, Toensing has called for a second special prosecutor to investigate Mueller, the logic being that he was F.B.I. director at the time that the Uranium One acquisition was approved." Mueller's team is filled with dirty prosecutors, Clinton Donors, Democrat Hacks: On Sunday, Trump blasted Mueller as partisan, tweeting: “Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans?”" With the hire of Joe diGenova - it's obvious that Trump is bringing out the big guns for a direct confrontation with Mueller, after souring on his legal team's more diplomatic strategy: Trump’s new offensive is a sign that he’s unilaterally abandoning the go-along, get-along strategy advocated by Dowd and Ty Cobb, the White House lawyer overseeing the response to Mueller. Cobb’s standing with Trump has been falling for months, after Cobb made the now-infamous prediction that the Russia probe would be over by Thanksgiving 2017. Dowd assured Trump that he had a “great relationship with Mueller” and could manage him, according to sources. That obviously hasn’t happened. “Trump just wants something to change and nothing was changing,” the outside adviser said. The genial and mustachioed Cobb has always been somewhat of an odd fit for Trump, whose mental picture of a lawyer is Roy Cohn, his early mentor. Sources said Trump reluctantly conceded to allow Cobb to play good cop. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03-22/now-im-f-ing-doing-it-my-way-trump-prepares-war-mueller
Bannon, Hope Hicks, etc. Refused to answer any questions from the period after the transition began (which includes all time during his presidency) on the grounds that Trump might want to exert executive privilege.
Trump dictated the first statement released by the White House on the content of the Trump tower meeting and tried to allege that the meeting was solely about adopting Russian children. Trump publicly called for Russian hackers to release illegally obtained documents in order to hurt his political opponent. Trump pushed the GOP to alter its official stance on Crimea. Trump publicly echoed Russian talking points from Crimea to NATO. Trump repeatedly and explicitly cast doubt on the validity of the conclusion from the intelligence agencies that Russia meddled in the 2016 election.
Yep, and the Republicans from the House Intelligence Committee refused to hold either in contempt for their refusal to answer the question.
If Trump is interrogated by Mueller, he can have his lawyer present. If he chooses not to be interrogated, then Trump can be subpoenaed to testify in front of the Grand Jury, and he cannot have his lawyer present there. Bill Clinton was subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury, but he was a lawyer. Trump isn't. IMO, it would be in Trump's best interest to have representation when he answers questions, but he seems to have some trouble with the truth, so any interrogation is problematic for him. https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/testifying-before-a-grand-jury.html
