So you will comply when you want. And if guns are banned and you are given the choice to have your gun or go to jail you will comply then also because jail sucks.

The NRA brass is pandering to the President to ensure future support for the 2A. NRA members can avoid the convention that night if that's what they want to do. I live 25 miles away and I'll be at home if I'm not working.

You already proved it by being the fourth individual to waste time by reposting this topic which was clearly explained a couple of days ago.

Those of us who carry lawfully concealed weapons are, as a demographic, more law abiding than the police themselves. We may not like the requirement placed upon us but we will follow the law, it's what we do. I bet you knew that already when you made that statement.

    What spin?

This wasn't some special circumstance or alteration to standard procedure.

Its the freakin Vice President on scene.

Of course weapons of all kinds will be restricted.

And why, pray tell, do you think that the VP or President wouldn't attend if the NRA touted the same line they tout every single day"

The 2nd Amendment - like every other Constitutional right - doesn't mean you can just do anything you want anywhere you want at any time you want. For painfully obvious reasons, allowing hundreds of people to bring guns into a Presidential speech is a bad idea. While the NRA members would never do anything, that would make it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy for a hateful liberal or terrorist (same difference) to pretend to be an NRA member and do something dangerous.

Newsflash: It is a request because you can deny the meeting. The government is not forcing anyone to listen to Trump or Pence.

Aren't you people tired of being wrong about this?

The only time/place of the convention where guns are banned is the time/place where Pence is there.
During that time/place, guns are banned by the Secret Service, as a condition of his presence.

    Try harder.

Trump says gun-free zones are bait for whackos. So why are Trump rallies gun-free zones?

We hear over and over and over that more Americans carrying more guns makes people more safe.

    The stench of hypocrisy.

They aren't. The secret service has guns.
Never know when some liberal fruitcake might take a shot, like at the GOP baseball practice a while back.

It's more like the stench of idiocy. It's really not that complicated:

If you take a deranged individual who wants to kill as many people as possible, his best bet would be a "gun free zone" because there would be no one to stop him. But if you take a deranged liberal who wants to harm our President, that is another situation.

Why you people are having so much trouble understanding this is a complete mystery.

Schools have armed guards, and yet they are still called "gun free zones" by Trump and his Chumps.

    The stench of hypocrisy.

Except it's not. This particular event at the convention will be (for obvious reasons) but the NRA Convention is not "gun free."

The fact that you have to lie to make your point proves how bankrupt the point is.

We now see that the pseudocon claim that more Americans with more guns makes everyone safer is just so much bullshit.

Everyone else already knew this was bullshit. I am glad to see the pseudocons are finally realizing it.

Apparently, people who hate the NRA & call for more "common sense" gun laws would rather take factually flawed pot shots at the NRA than exercise "common sense".

Not only can convention goers carry firearms the rest of the time but the building's owners are letting the NRA use the facility rent-free.

"5 things to know about the National Rifle Association's convention in Dallas"
    https://www.texastribune.org/2018/0...ational-rifle-associations-convention-dallas/

EXCERPT "Tripp, the state rifle association official, shrugged off such criticisms.

“That was nobody’s call but the Secret Service’s,” she said. “The Secret Service is in total and absolute control of the president's and vice president's security.”

The NRA won’t have to pay rent

The cost of renting the convention center for an event the size and length of NRA’s meeting would normally cost about $410,000. But Dallas Morning News columnist Robert Wilonsky revealed earlier this year that the NRA is getting a free ride."CONTINUED
