The press neither has any right to space in the WH, nor the right to have the President made available to them...I say move them across the street into the old executive building, and inform them that because of recent spectacle, future press conferences will be given off camera, and only at the discretion of the press office....see how they like that.
Trump sure is afraid of Jimmy. What a Nancy boy Trump is!!! All that tough talking and we wound up with the biggest sissy the white house has ever seen.
Fox News Joins News Outlets Supporting CNN In Lawsuit To Restore Jim Acosta’s White House Credentials And Fox News laughs at CNN every night.
Good for you - you should send your suggestions right away to the White House, I'm sure they'll love hearing from you, LOL......After all, Trump is the only president to ever publicly declare the press / media to be "the enemy of the people" and it would seem the toads in his administration agree. They will appreciate the fact you hate democracy as much as they do.....
Trump's oath of office ends with ".....preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States". Trump is trampling all over the press by constantly attacking them, calling them fake news (without identifying who is 'fake' and who is not), calling them the enemy of the people and telling Americans not believe what they see & hear, only what he says and does is real. In Trump's world, only press / media that agrees with him, promotes him and kisses his ass is non fake. The first thing budding authoritarians do is attack the press, convince the people the press is the enemy and eventually shut them down. Make no mistake, Trump would love to do this but he can't. Trump comes from a world where he was the absolute ruler (Trump Corp) - he's having enormous difficulty with anyone who doesn't cater to him...and his wishes. If Trump could get away with assuming full power, he'd do it in a heartbeat. Why do you think he's so fond of the world's despots and authoritarians, he's jealous of the power they have..... Putting crazy restrictions on the press is anti-democratic behavior. If the White House gets really stupid the media will sue, and win..... Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Your statement: "The press neither has any right to space in the WH, nor the right to have the President made available to them...I say move them across the street into the old executive building, and inform them that because of recent spectacle, future press conferences will be given off camera, and only at the discretion of the press office....see how they like that." You are advocating freezing the press out, leaving all control etc. to the executive branch and punishing them. This would not go over well in court, where the media would undoubtedly win, if what you advocate for was enacted. Suppressing and/or impeding the press is suppressing democracy.......you'll most likely disagree and that's okay...
Great post. Asking Trump to "defend" The Constitution is like asking a 50-something sexually perverted creep (who has incestuous thoughts about his own daughter) to guard the door of the Miss Teen USA dressing room.:smfh:
He acted the a$$hole. And was suspended. He's back on a temporary restraining order. And will never be called on again. And the notion that this is a Constitutional crisis is absurd. CNN was not suspended. Only the moron aka Jim Acosta was for grandstanding and visibly touching a young female WH intern. The guy is a first class jerk. He doesn't deserve to have a PTA pass.
They have to do something to spike ratings. Apparently honest reporting has not occurred to them. Remember when Ted Turner was on the O'Reilly Factor? Great interview with Turner holding his own but admitting to some mistakes.
I do disagree....Unless you can show me where the President has a constitutional duty to talk to, or provide space in the WH, then it doesn't exist, regardless what the 9th circuit says...the only constitutional obligation for the President to report anything, is to Congress for the state of the union...And that can be in writing.
The press has been given great leeway by the Constitution in exchange for accurately reporting the news and editorial opinion. That has degenerated in the last decades to opinion on the news page. News conferences are at the pleasure of the Executive branch. Trump could cancel them, turn off the TV cameras, or only take questions in writing.
I think you misunderstood my point. Trump has an obligation to protect the first amendment rights of all Americans and this includes the press / media. By attacking the press, calling them 'fake news' (without identifying which outlets), calling them the 'enemy of the people' and telling Americans they 'should not believe what they see & hear, inferring they should only listen to him and his supporters could be seen as suppressing the media's 1st amendment rights. Freezing out the media at the White House would only reinforce this - and even this crazy White House isn't stupid enough to try this. If this isn't bad enough Trump has also made journalism a very dangerous occupation around the world, including increasing the danger for American journalists who work in other countries. Do I think Trump's actions will lead to court cases, yes I do for the simple reason there have already been lawsuits filed against Trump with likely more to come if things don't change - for violating 1st amendment rights of the press / media. I'll agree on one thing, hearing less from Trump could be a positive - he just spews lies, conspiracy theories and utter nonsense. I'd miss the entertainment value though......
I think it is amazing to read your highly partisan take on this...it's almost like having a glimpse through the looking glass to a alternative reality
