Does everybody have a soul? So do you believe that everyone has one of their own? That would be nice. Or do none of us have a soul? Do you believe that this is all just fairy tales? Or maybe only some of us have a soul? This has been considered at certain points in history.
A soul is a part of you that exists along side your physical body, but more specifically, and importantly, a soul exists outside of you even after your body's death. You can take that soul to an afterlife. (or not.)
If there was a deity as described in various "holy books" why would he give everyone a soul? Maybe the intent is to test those who have souls to see how they react when those without souls do something. Besides, what good does it do for an Ammonite bastard who comes from a long line of bastards to have a soul? He can never join Jealous's congregation = Deuteronomy 23:2-3.
You didn't define it in clear, scientific terms. What is it made of? How big is it? What colour and shape is it? If you don't know the answer to any of these questions, then how can you know the thing is there?
Angel was cursed with a soul (punishment for breaking the vampire code). Spike voluntarily acquired a soul (for Buffy), and it nearly killed him.
If science 'hasn't advanced enough' to detect the giant invisible purple unicorns living your garage, how do you know they're there?
Traditional Japanese Shinto (likely influenced by Buddhism) believes there are four types of souls - human, animals, plants, and those that inhabit inanimate objects like rocks. Even within the same soul there can be different spirit attributes, so it's a lot more of a fluid understanding of the soul.
Yes we have a soul And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Gen 2;7
If you believe you have a soul that means you believe someones religion and that means you've been had.
