So winning for the American people is a bad thing. Got it. The naysayers are wearing short term blinders in a long term fight.

Republicans love socialism when they are the beneficiary...
    Other people, not so much.

US inflation is 2% ... inflation on Chinese imports? Oh! that's much lower! .07% ... Xi Ping will subsidize those affected mfgrs, just like he has for a decade to create the trade deficit China needs to maintain it's projected GDP growth targets. Wal Mart and Amazon bankrupt wholesalers almost daily by demanding discounts that erase profits. US consumers aren't compelled to buy Chinese imports, but Xi Ping is sure as hell compelled to export his cheap knock offs.

No, you don't 'got' it. He wants to win to satisfy his humungous ego, and the American people do not enter into the equation. Not ever.
It's all about Trump and his personality disorder.

Trump wants to buy $15bn US produce and meat and donate it to US food banks. Is feeding the hungry evil republican socialism?

So fighting for American interests is a bad thing. Apparently you wish to let America bleed out due to hate.

Yes, the sub components are made in china too

Which is a tremendous economic benefit to them

Taking all that way would hurt china very much

This post proves you can't or won't understand what YM is saying. You're summary is not even close, he is in no way trying to convince you "that the guy losing a penny is not losing a penny and the guy taking his penny is no better off".

NO ONE is "losing" anything. You EXCHANGE a penny for a good (food in this case). See? No losers, both win.

Why the Teamsters president supports Trump’s new tariffs

    James Hoffa:

Trump has the support of many union members and now we are seeing union leadership showing support. Trump will win in 2020.

This is silly and you know it. We live in a global world now and, as yardmeat pointed out, it's entirely feasible to gain wealth even if china refused to buy any of our exports. Trade is a complicated system these days, every country is a player. Is trump really the guy you want pulling the levers? (A guy who clearly doesn't even know who which side pays a tariff)

So farmers were out of business before Nixon went to China? If any one market has that much power over us, it needs to be FIXED, otherwise we become their bitch in every possible foreign policy scenario.

That is what China is counting on and that is what democrats are already giving them. It remains to be seen if the rest of America still has the right stuff or if we have gone from Americas greatest generation to Americas softest generation in just a few decades.

If you want to be China's bitch that's your problem. I had a Chinese roommate in the 70's whose grandmother lived in Beijing, and what he told me then is coming true.

Don't be daft. Transitioning to a more service based economy is good for Americans!! You want to be the worlds manufacturer? Then jettison your luxurious standard of living. There is no having your cake and eating too.

That makes absolutely no sense. Yes, Farmers were going out of business before Nixon went to China. But the current rate of bankruptcies is record breaking specifically because of a whole host of Trump policies - including his trade wars with China and Canada and Europe.
