Donald Trump arrives in the UK for state visit, calls London Mayor Sadiq Khan a 'stone cold loser'

I confess that I'm confused.

In the USA, we have cities. They can be broken up into neighborhoods or boroughs. Regardless, that collection of neighborhoods is called one city, and that city has one mayor.

We do have metropolitan areas, where there is the biggest city, and then the surrounding smaller cities. Is that what you're describing? I'm reading your post as naming Khan as being some neighborhood patriarch, not as the head of the big city's government.

 

What does this have to do with crime in London?

 

Trump is the Guest of the Queen and the UK Government...and not the Guest of the Mayor of a very small local authority known as the 'City of London.'

I did get the 'borough' thing technically incorrect. There are 32 boroughs and for some reason I can't be bothered finding out, in addition there is a small area called the City of London and this Khan fella is its Mayor.

 

I'm still not seeing the logic. Is there a mayor on the planet who governs a large enough area who you think WOULD be okay to receive return fire from a world leader?

Khan is well down the pecking order. He is a local authority elected person.

There are plenty of Political Brits who are not happy with Trump having a State visit. The Speaker of the house of commons and the Leaders of both the Labour and LibDem's did not attend the banquet last night for instance and while protests will be less than they would have been had this visit happened when first planned, there will be protests today.

He is the Mayor of London, of the whole of London (unless the city has some special get out clause which would not surprise me)

His politics are right wing Labour. Our Government is a coalition of the Tories and DUP. His job is to look after local Government in London which can be opposed to Central Government.

 

You are suggesting Trump waits for people to insult him before he gets started.

 

LOL. No, absolutely not. He has proven himself most capable of insulting without provocation! However, @Bush Lawyer seems
to think that Corbyn would be immune from a Trump attack because he is too high up or something.
