He did, didn't he?? He made sense until it became clear he wasn't all there in the head, but he had some interesting ideas...

I voted for Reagan 84 and Bush 88... in my 20's... they just seemed safe, and frankly, I didn't know much about it.... pretty much going with the flow back then... Voted for Willie twice, because he made some sense early (and he was young and somewhat cool). Republicans cut the cord for me in 2000... I can still remember some of their comments about the Florida vote and Bush was clearly a dope...

Trump will still win Kentucky easily in 2020, but I REALLY hope Kentucky kicks the turtle to the curb, using the same rationale they kicked Bevin out... That's doubtful as well, but the guy can't crack 30% approval, for crying out loud...

    Independents decide presidential elections .

In recent decades the losing party comes back in congress in the mid terms.

The electoral college will pick the president in 2020 not popular vote.

    Just a reminder.

Sometimes. But anyway, let's look at where independents are at:
    Trump job approval: 34%
    https://news.gallup.com/poll/203198/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspx

So add a third headwind: independents also hate Trump.

Not winning the vote by an 8-point margin. That's a blowout, and those don't happen too often. The last time Democrats did as well as they did in 2018 was in the 1970's.

"Democrats took control of the House this year with the largest midterms margin of victory in history, surpassing the previous record of 8.7 million votes in 1974, according to NBC News election data."
    https://www.axios.com/2018-midterm-...gin-a56a1049-8823-4667-8d81-2c67ef3f36f4.html

Sure, the EC picks the President, but the EC won't matter if Trump loses the vote by 8 points, and I don't really see things as being all that better for Trump since the Midterms. They've kind of been shitty for Trump for awhile. It's pretty undeniable now that he's a moral failure and a moron to boot. Trump's like Joe Biden, if Biden was ten times dumber. And also a narcissist.

"How lovely are things on the South Side of Chicago, one of many similar Democratic strongholds?"

It looks like the Mississippi voters got the message about the Democrats, since they don't have any running the state. How's that working out for them?

Who, Mississippians or Democrats? Democrats could care less about Mississippi, and the state's a shithole, as Trump would say.

"I'm excited to move to Mississippi!" said no one ever.

Yes, Republican politicians suck just like the Democrat politicians they work with. Democrats and Republicans want government to help people, but government programs are designed to enrich the ruling political class, not the people.

"We are the government. We are here to help." is just a crude sales pitch. Voters are catching on to the scam.

“Media reports on government actions, whether debates, legislation, or regulation, almost always present them in terms of pure policy. New laws are for a specific purpose, perhaps even a noble one. But what if that isn't the real purpose of the exercise? What if politics is largely about fund-raising and moneymaking? The commercial motives of the Permanent Political Class in acting or not acting are rarely questioned and virtually never fully understood.” EXTORTION, "How Politicians Extract Your money, BuyVotes, And Line Their Own Pockets, Peter Schweizer, HMO, NY, NY, 2013. p. 2, 3.

Republicans want government to help people? Since when?

Reagan had this stupid saying: The most terrifying words are "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help". Which is stupid, because there are a whole lot of people in a whole lot of circumstances who want that government help and will be super-pissed if it doesn't show up. FEMA is just one example. The CDC is an incredibly competent agency that never gets the credit it deserves. If/when we have another epidemic, all eyes will turn to the CDC, and we'll breathe a sigh of relief that they're "from the government and here to help".

I'm still not sure what to think about turtle. I definitely don't like him or his politics, but I'm not sure if he sold his soul to trump or if he is lying in wait. I know that many Republicans on the hill despise trump but fear his base. But given the chance to definitively expose trump for the criminal we know him to be, and certainly much more than that, even people like turtle might pounce. He didn't hesitate to state that if the House votes to impeach trump, the Senate will have no choice but to have a trial.

    1. McConnell has no soul
    2. Turtles don't "pounce"
    3. He's probably right that the Senate has to hold a trial... I also don't believe he has any special abilities once the trial starts... I think he's just a regular juror.... That'll suck for him, being used to dragging ass on everything....

    So it would seem.

Heh, yes the irony occurred to me. But he may really hate trump. I can't tell.

People [talking heads and some politicians] were trying to make the argument that they could refuse to hold a trial. I was surprised that turtle didn't turtle jump on that bandwagon,

Are you predicting that the Democrat nominee will carry Kentucky in 2020?

Republicans and Democrats are just ordinary Americans, and ordinary Americans are filled with good will and compassion.

Professional politicians and their ilk are the problem - not the people.

The Big Lie: "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."

Most people have finally figured that out. Government is a necessary evil.

“Politics in modern America has become a lucrative business, an industry that has less to do with policy and a lot more to do with accessing money and favors. … bills and regulations are often introduced not to affect policy change, but as vehicles for shaking down people for … money and favors. Indeed, the motive on both sides often has nothing to do with creating a “correct” policy but instead is often about maximizing profits.” EXTORTION, "How Politicians Extract Your money, Buy Votes, And Line Their Own Pockets, Peter Schweizer, HMO, NY, NY, 2013, p. 4.

and the rest is 'dog & pony' show to appease the peoples, each side getting alternating 'wins'... even the most educated are bamboozled by it and follow along like the sheep they've become...

New Jersey bucked the national trend seen in Pennsylvannia, Virginia, and Kentucky.

How many electoral votes do you expect Trump will get out of NJ?

A government operating on an over $210Trillion unfunded mandate should have paved the streets with gold and working Americans should have more money in their healthcare accounts than they can spend in a lifetime.

The incumbent was personally very unpopular. This had zero to do with Trump.

The Democratic candidate said for a year in his standard campaign speech this election was local and Trump was irrelevant in this race. Of course, he appears to win and then he says this was a referendum on Trump. Typical Democratic sleaze.

Trump will win Kentucky by 40 next year.

Msm and the pundits got it wrong in 16 while I called it for trump .That is recorded here on this forum.

I went for stein once sanders lost to hillary. It was obvious that Americans wanted change and trump and sanders were running on change.

I doubt I can call this next election for the dems are weak from division . As they were in 16. The party of Clintaon is at war with progressives and fdr liberals . This may hurt the dems if they get a clinton dem to run against trump. Like Biden. Or if they get sanders or warren who are against the Clinton democrats who represent wall street and the professional upper middle class but not the working middle.

Msm isnt covering this war within the dem party but it has only grown But other media is.

If you get news from msm you may not know what is happening with the democrats. Msm works for the party of clinton, the party that kicked working Americans to the curb in the 90s. This fact is what put trump into office .

Don't know, but they were real low. One of the reasons the Left/Complex regularly snatches defeat from the jaws of victory is they have an endemic failure to understand, grasp and apply context and gain real perspective on political events. They blow things out of proportion that are irrelevant or even counterproductive to their cause, then utterly ignore real issues that might gain them traction with voters. This is why despite the numerical superiority in their dependent dreg voting blocs, they lose and lose, will keep losing.

true, kentucky will glow bright deep red in 2020, as usual... that is unless the new gov starts writing eo's (illegal & unconstitutional ones) such as 'all ec's go to the national popular vote winner or no tax returns no name on the ballot bs
