Not really but kinda? As a general rule of thumb yeah you need a way of distinguishing countries. Borders can do this. But that doesn't mean the people who aren't citizens can't become them, nor does that mean they can't advance themselves to become citizens either. Like that's just a conceptual argument though, not one of endorsement. Does that answer your point?

Yale just released a study that estimates the actual number of illegals in the US to be just shy of 30 million.

Not one illegal should be put ahead of lawful immigrants and she's firm on that.

That is true. Ethnic territories are not nations. But ethnicity can be tied to nations. For example, slavic is an ethnic identity, that can be tied to the larger slavic nation. The slavic nation can then influence other slavic countries. Think about why Russia supported Serbia prior to WW1. It was for political gain yes, but also because the idea of Pan-Slavism was a transnational diaspora that united the slavic people without regard to borders.

You sound like a nationalist who mistakes a country for a nation. Nations aren't countries. They're different. Nations can have claims to land, but that doesn't mean they have borders attached to them. People can shed blood for nations yeah, but that doesn't make your claim true.

Countries have borders yeah. Nations aren't countries though. There's a difference. Think of countries as formal institutions that have control over land. Nations are the means by which these institutions communicate with the people they rule and vice versa. Conceptually, they're just different things.

 

But in reality, where the rest of us live, they are the same.

 

We use them interchangeably yeah. It's a subtle difference because we're making the basic assumption the state responds to its population by using nations. But they're not the same thing and can have real differences when we use the right words for the right occasion. When we use the right words for the right occasion, we can make people understand differences they couldn't otherwise. It would be like saying all republicans are conservatives. They're not, and while we can use those interchangeably to some extent, they're not the same and those differences matter.

 

Ok, you are splitting hairs in abstraction which really is a a weak argument against borders.

Most people dont split hairs and see a nation and a country as the same.

I am an economic nationalist but not an ethnic nationalist as the Nazis were. The disemboweling of America and the destruction of our middle class by our elites and govt is because they are not economic nationalist as the party of fdr was .

Most people aren't people on the internet arguing about borders. But if you want to be someone who can argue, make sure your basic ideas of how the world works can't be flicked away with a simple "you don't actually know what you're talking about because you don't know the actual definition of the word". It really does help when we know basic words and what they mean. That way we can build more complex arguments by relying on these basic words.

She has always been honest and has said many times she is not running 3rd party.

She reminds me of what her party once was. Representing the common man with some common sense. Sure she is left of center but not radical . And unlike Obama and hillary is not owned by those elites who are beholden to no nation and will continue to manage our decline to max out their wealth .
