This last weekend I was talking to my son that is an IT manager. He said he was talking to young guys just out of college that work for and with him. He said they were all revved up for Bernie, because he is going to give them free shi-------------stuff.

They simply dont understand the socialism/communism he is selling. They are so uneducated about economics they dont understand that all their free stuff cant come from just the rich. All of the free stuff that Bernie and other democrats are pandering about is totally pie in the sky. EVERYBODY will be heavily taxed, and then it wont even begin to pay for all that wonderful stuff. If you add it all up some estimates put it at 100 TRILLION DOLLARS over 10 years.

I told my son he should take Sweden for instance, that socialist hold up as a shining example. You can check these facts yourself if you dont believe them, but people in Sweden pay right at 60% income tax, and then there is their 26% VAT on top of that. You might also check out what their gas tax is too. It is NOT the rich people alone paying those taxes it is EVERYBODY!!!!!

So WHY do you talk about FREE SHI* then go on to say that high taxation will have to support it??? And I believe Bernie says that too??He never says anything about FREE SHI*.Nothing worth having is ever FREE!!!

I didnt say that high taxation would support it. In fact all the rich peoples's money and high taxes would not even begin to pay for all the free stuff that Bernie and the democrat think we should have.

If $15/hour is insufficient to raise a family on, how will paying 50% of that income in taxes going to affect people earning such a wage? Then add a VAT tax to that.

Maybe if we were not already $20 trillion in annual deficits, and another $20 trillion in SS liability, $31 trillion with our current medicare liability and still another $128 trillion in other unfunded liabilities, maybe we could pretend to fund all the free stuff for a few years, that all the dems running for president are promising.

I think most people know it's not free- but people like Bernie are using the same human weaknesses that Casinos do. Gamblers know the odds are against them, but they choose to believe they will be the exception, so they can believe what the want to believe. They brag about their wins; forget about their losses- call themselves winners even though they left with less money than they came with.

The problem is not that there is nothing free- the problem is that some see nothing wrong with stealing money legally to pay for the "free" stuff they want. Intelligence is not wisdom, neither is knowledge. Lots of smart, educated people buy into stupid ideas. It's dangerous for all of us when that infects politics.

Yeah, and you want those who earn more than you to pay a significant percentage of your portion.

The problem sir is that boomers had that because we had to deal with far less government for the first 2/3 of our lives.

Most people can count. They'll agree to higher taxes if what they get out of the situation is worth it.

    1) Nobody talks about free stuff, except Trumpist fear-mongers.
    2) Maybe you'd prefer that school teaches that tax cuts pay for themselves, or that Mexico pays for the great Trump wall, or that trade wars are easy to win. Would that work for you?

Your side has no business lecturing others about free stuff.

They're pandering when they know they can't or even don't intend to deliver on their promises.

Yeah the “free” argument is about as illogical as one could get. It misses the point but, then again, we can’t have a discussion about anything without these dumb derisive memes tossed into the gears.

Kind of like promising to repeal and replace Obamacare, eliminate the national debt in 8 years, build a big beautiful wall, allow individuals to deduct health care insurance premiums from their income tax, and balance the federal budget 'fairly quickly'? Those kinds of promises you mean?

    Price controls from:
    Office of Price Administration 1941-1947
    Economic Stabilization Agency 1950-1953
Nixon Shock 1971-1973 -- also included such free-market hands-off measures such as the unilateral banning of direct conversion of American currency to gold, wage freezes and an across the board 10 percent surcharge on all imports.

Employer based health insurance is a direct result of wage freezes during WW2.

College tuition is 250% more for Millennials than it was for Boomers, adjusted for inflation.

Boomers had it easy, due to government 'heavy handedness' and regulations. They are, as we say here in Texas, 'eat slap up' with selfish entitlement and a rather disgusting strain of, 'I got mine, so **** you,' and forget how they got theirs. We will be much better off as a country when the last one is gone.

I think I know how to better spend what money stays in my pocket! I can understand how some folk feel more comfortable giving their hard earned money to a government and allowing them to control/manage what they don't know to or are incapable of doing on their own..
