    I am perfectly okay with a country prioritizing its own citizens for jobs. I sincerely hope that there will be enough employees in the country when the economy BOOMS as has been promised. There are many industries (aside from farming) that relies heavily upon immigration to fill all the jobs.

    I am, however, not happy with a policy announced via twitter. Especially when it occurred at 10pm - seemingly randomly as no one in the administration was aware of the policy. And to announce it when the policy has yet to be written and the details ironed out sounds all the world like a campaign promise to me. It was one of Trump's fall back battle cries in 2016 and it seems to have re-emerged.

    Good! I've been raising hell about the fact that the United States needs to completely stop all non-essential immigration to this country for a period of at least five years!

    We should 'cherry-pick' whatever foreign labor we decide is in our national interest, as we need it, on a TEMPORARY basis, and not allow any more immigration in here until we can find a rational, intelligent way to deal with the millions of illegals we've already got here! A five-year moratorium would at least allow us to catch our breath....

    Why not? Make the ban full and wages will increase as employers need to fill the now vacant positions. Keep the TFW supervisors who can train the new workforce, but realistically, this is about reducing infection rates, not economics.

    Wow. So by acknowledging your bloody past somehow makes me an 'America Hater'. Quite the cognitive dissonance there eh? Yes I'm from Canada. And your American, the nation that sponges off our softwood lumber, N95 Mask Pulp, Hockey Players, Entertainers, Energy to power your near entire NW, Car manufacturing capabilities to compliment our integrated supply chains, etc..etc..

    I love your Country. I'm half american. I think the US has some of the best ideas and ideals in the world. But to ignore your bloody history both domestic and abroad isn't patriotism, it's nationalism. Your not perfect, and only a narcissist would think that they were wholly innocent in all things and take zero responsibility for their actions. I guess the view on things really does start at the very top and work it's way down.

    Considering the current circumstances, I have no problem with a 60 day ban on some immigration, exclusively to help stop the spread of the disease.

    I'm sure Trump couldn't give a rats fart about that aspect however.

    As you say, another late decision by the PINO...

    Purely by definition, yes. If they're coming from a different place, then they are by definition immigrating back to the US.

    No, it refers to people who are moving. That's a specific type of migrant, but immigration and emmigration refer to the direction people are moving in. Immigration means into a new country, emmigration means they are leaving.

    Though I guess that's right, technically they are emmigrating.

    Immigration requires the intent to leave ones country to come to another and live. Emmigration is leaving ones country to another the intent doesn’t matter

    vacationing or studying overseas and coming home is neither, either way

    That seems a very uncommon definition. If that is the basis of your entire argument, it still doesn't explain your weird idea about immigration retaliation.

    Dems keep the government shut down for longer than needed hurting the minorities and working man...
