I disagree, however, that it's how they really think. It's propaganda.

Most conservatives don't see themselves as any kind of majority and they are proud of that idea. They see themselves as the precious few. The real rulers of society. They are the original elitists. Most are addicted to the idea that "blood will tell" and see poor people as mentally, physically, socially and of course, racially and ethnically, inferior to anyone who has less money than they do for whatever reason. They sometimes are (or MUCH more commonly have found some imaginary indication from somewhere that they are) descendants of European nobility. This is why they are often obsessed with their family tree If they are poor as churchmice that's only because of the "race traitors" and others that have robbed them, either now or in the past. Endemic racism is, of course, central to this worldview

They also hate democracy. They believe strongly that the "masses" are stupid, venal and need to be ruled with an iron hand for their own good

My own theory is that most of them are descendants of the Tories who remained loyal to the UK in the Revolution, at least that's what they act like though my knowledge of Ameican History seems to indicate that is a quite a-historic idea.

Very good points. If by oligarchy you mean the political parties, then I agree completely. And when somebody slips through their life is made into a virtual hell. I stopped voting some time ago after I understood that is accomplishes nothing.

 

If Trump wants to be re-elected he better stop teargassing his own people. Or threatening to have em shot.

They acted quickly, with leadership and with empathy. They never tried to downplay the severity of the pandemic.

There's a very good chance they'll all be reelected.

Trump's garrulous MOUTH has indeed been his own worst enemy, along with his boneheaded belief that focusing all his effort on doing what's good for stock market 'casinos' is the best political course of all. Too bad for Trump that there are FAR fewer people who 'kill it' on Wall Street than there are people in the bottom-feeding 'underclass' who live on credit cards, crap-pay jobs, and government 'subsidies', plus other welfare programs every day of their miserable lives.

So, instead of re-electing Trump, Americans will vote for a genuinely senile, wholly-corrupt piece of ancient Democrat baggage like Joe Biden....
