Has it occurred to you that the ones you refer to as thugs...might also be decent citizens?

And we are a CONSTITUTIONAL republic. We have a constitution.

So you're OK with "federal" troops disappearing people off of the streets while being unidentifiable and threatening to shoot anyone who follows them ? You cannot be serious if you support that

Or "gestapo," a blanket term used by people who do not understand law and order means just that.

Oh, they made me drop my binky and play adult. I had to go home. Bwaaaaaaaa!

I saw the head of the department explaining how they were operating. If you have evidence to support your conspiracy theory that proves the director wrong then go for it.

Why aren't they freaking out at how large DHS has become? Why aren't they complaining about personal body searches at airports..by a branch of DHS. And that sorry long list trundles on. The left focuses on the detail, not the panorama.

Do you seriously believe anyone with an IQ larger than 4 will believe all gun buyers are would-be suicides? It's to protect us against the crazies and intruders and anyone else who tries to harm us. How wicked and obtuse we are for wanting self-protection!

Too late. It's a national agency. And they have equal jurisdiction in the other cities. Bring it on.

Hiding behind a voice vote in the House and passed by unanimous consent in the Senate,
PUBLIC LAW 115–278—NOV. 16, 2018 CYBERSECURITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY AGENCY ACT OF 2018

I believe this authorizes DHS to protect critical infrastructure from terrorist attacks. Faux Protesters who make believe they are not violent for the cameras are dropped bricks and spears that they then use against Protective Service people authorized to protect critical infrastructure are terrorists and should be classified as such so the people who bought the attacks can be incarcerated along with the terrorists they purchased.

Most Americans don't understand the difference between federal and state jurisdiction when it comes to criminal activity. Just remember this, the FBI doesn't answer 911 calls. Over 95% of crimes prosecuted in this country are prosecuted by state prosecutors, not federal prosecutors. Federal has a very limited jurisdiction. So what Chad Wolf, who is a lobbyist, and former Hill staffer that has no experience with the military or with police or has had any training at all in this, what this acting DHS director is saying is that 'this a federal building in Portland, therefore we have jurisdiction to go protect that federal building."

If that were true, which it is not, that would give them jurisdiction to come into any American city, take over the streets in every city in America where there is a federal facility, it's nonsense. The feds have no intention of prosecuting graffiti cases, they're not going to a small fire burning in a trash bin and they're not helping, they're making it worse, because that's what the president wants to do. He's trying to find footage that makes it look like lawlessness is the rule of the day. The vast majority of these protesters are peaceful and have been for weeks. There are a few bad actors but you take them out with surgical skill not with a 2 x 4.

Those burning port-a-potties and graffiti were not terrorist attacks by any stretch of the imagination.

"Any time you attack a federal facility such as the federal courthouse in Portland, that is a federal crime... This idea that they can attack federal property and federal law enforcement officers and go to the other side of the street and say you can't touch me is ridiculous." -DHS Chief Chad Wolf

You promulgate a wild conspiracy theory and then say prove I'm wrong. Nicely done.

So you have no problem then with federal officers protecting federal property and arresting those who commit federal crimes as explained by the DHS Chief.

When state and local officials refuse to protect their citizens and order law enforcement to stand down it is more than appropriate for the federal government to act. By taking a political stand that ignores criminal behavior and jeopardizes innocent citizens these officials have abdicated their responsibility and nullified their authority. The left is combative and belligerent and needs to be dealt with in a like manor, if they want a war, America will be happy to oblige. If it were up to me they'd be rounded up, denied due process and held indefinitely in solitary, in a military prison in the middle of nowhere.

State and local officials didn't "refuse" anything of the sort, that's just ridiculous to even say that. If you want to talk about a lack of taking a political stand let's talk about how Russia was interfering in our election and Trump ignored and even encouraged it. Apparently, Trump is willing to overlook Russia paying Afghan fighters to kill our US soldiers, but he's anxious, ready and willing to send in federal border patrol agents dressed like military soldiers to bash some heads and pepper spray our own people. Where is the logic?
