I "usually" spend a LOT more time at a Walmart than I do voting. Maybe they need to vote out their election officials. And NO I would not be interested in a government app on which to vote. There is NO problem going to the polling place and voting I've been doing it for 45 years.

I was referring to the time one would spend to get to a cashier or self-checkout as that's the part comparable to waiting in line at a polling place.

I was pondering the app because of the number of young voters that may not understand how to vote my mail or voting at their local polling place. I wonder if we could drum up their interest by making it simpler for them.

I have several neighbors who are seniors. Many don't want to take the risk of going to the polls. Many are just scared to be out there right now and it makes sense since their demographic has been hit the hardest relative to deaths.

COVID-19 has really changed the way we do things or even think about the world around us. It has been a wake-up call for the whole world. I know that I will never be the same. I'm okay with the shelter-in-place, social distancing and masks, but I worry about my kids constantly.

I want to vote by mail in the general election in New York state. That isn't possible yet. But the legislation is already there and is just waiting for a signature. I hope Governor Andrew Cuomo signs that into law sometime soon.

Vote by mail is a great thing and a boon to people with disabilities.

I don't wait in line at the polling place at least not more then a minute or two. I'm a senior.

    That's cool.

They had to implement an hour (7A-8A) because rude people were rushing around all the seniors trying to shop during our Shelter-in-Place. I was really happy to see WalMart (only one here in my small town) take such quick action to make sure our seniors could shop in peace.

Planning to vote in person. I don't see how any method, even with an app can be tamper-proof.

Vote By Mail. Been using this method for many years, never a problem with it. It is not absentee, just normal voting.

I would imagine you are right about anything being tamper-proof.

I'm glad to hear that's worked for you in past elections. I'm hoping it goes well this time too!

Clearly, I left out other options. Good to know you found a method that works for you.

So how many strangers, postal and government get to handle your ballot before it gets tabulated? How long is it out of your presence before it gets tabulated?

Me? None and it's tabulated the second it leaves my little fingertips. And certainly no more difficult to go to my polling place as go to the drop box. I also can have the peace of mind that only people who showed their identity to a poll worker got a ballot in their hands and were able to cast that ballot. Do you request your mail-in ballot or are the sent out en masse to all registered addresses?

I have no problem at all with people using the voting method they prefer. Multiple methods should be provided and all necessary taxpayer money spent to secure the ballot, to make certain systems work.

I have voted in person and handed my ballot to be instantly run thru the optical scanning machine.

And I have done the mail-in ballot, which uses the same machine just not when I am standing there.

And I have seen how that is done. In a large open room, nothing hidden. Teams from both parties monitoring. Looking to me very orderly and above board.

Vote the way you prefer, do not deny others their preference and support the money it takes for secure and accessible voting. That's all I ask for.

I don't vote any longer. I concluded that voting only changes the names in the offices. It never really fixes anything. I just adapt to what the voters do.

had we not had Bush Jr or Trump, just think where the economy would be today, we would not be 30 trillion in debt, that is for sure

but I think you're right, we have crossed the line, we as a nation will go bk soon... the question is, how long can the fed keep the house of card going, dumping trillions into the economy, buying corp stock and keeping the interest rates low

Texas has early voting. For 2 whole weeks, we can walk in, show our ID, and fill out our ballot. Lines are minimal and its secure.

I don't know but the time is certainly not infinite. I'm beginning to view federal government as criminal. I grimace when I pay taxes to it.

same here, much goes to interest anymore, just think of all the good we could have done with that money spent on interest

I wish we could turn back the clock and lock everything in to what it was around the Reagan and Clinton times

heck, think of all the good we could have done if the 30 trillion had been spent better than it was - but then again, we never should have allowed ourselves to get 30 trillion in debt - 911 was the turning point imo

Ill be delivering my mail-in ballot to the county courthouse. It won't count for **** in the EC because the coastal folks have the state locked up blue. But we'll get Trump the popular vote :)
