This is what leadership looks like. Action, not words. Asides from the risk of rioting in a stand your ground state where self defense has not been made virtually illegal, the penalties are increased.

Gov. DeSantis unveils new bill to crack down on riots, penalize cities for 'defunding police' TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Gov. Ron DeSantis introduced a new bill on Monday that would increase penalties to a third degree felony for those who participate in "disorderly assemblies," block roads and damage monuments.3 hours ago

Read the provisions, bet the rioters might think twice, then again, if you are out rioting, you dont have much common sense, so maybe not...But they will do mandatory jail time.

Good. This is how you deter crime, not with protests. Protesters ask for redress. Criminals are dealt with by the law.

More states should follow suit. I especially like the part where drivers can flee from a mob when being threatened. We have seen enough innocent drivers vehicles and themselves being assaulted.

Legit protest are all good as long as they are legit. I'm glad they made the consequences painfully real for rioters and looters.

To me a protest is people stand in an open area and state their grievance or opinion. Making people miserable by blocking traffic and terrorizing people is not protesting, it's making people miserable by blocking traffic and terrorizing people. What these rioters are doing is committing an assault every time they intimidate someone.

If you get convicted of rioting you cant be employed by the state and lose any state benefits. By by welfare.

Eh...I'm okay with a little civil disobedience. Blocking traffic is fine if you make your point and move on. No violence. No intimidation.

Be sure to get back to us as soon as DeSantis increases the penalties for police brutality.

No one should block traffic, you never know who is in those cars and what important business might be delayed. Plus it's counter productive. You want folks to care about a cause? Pissing them off wont help.

Sounds great in leftist la la land theory, but, in the real riot rat world, violence and intimidation is the whole point of blocking traffic.

I've seen very few examples of protestors blocking traffic in a respectful and civilized manner.

The riot ratting is no fun if it's done respectfully, and the mayhem and destruction is the fun and games of it all for the riot rats.

But.........I'm sure you understand after having those kinds of protests be ignored for decades while the police murder black people............and while black people have suffered from institutional racism for hundreds of years..........they may not be in the mood to stand around and chant. People do get frustrated.

And pissing off people will help how? They have no right to impede peoples daily lives.

And frustrated people do dumb things that backfire on them.

Case in in point- blocking traffic.

Yip. I never understood why they think stopping somebody from getting to their destination was going to gain support.

Just in case they don't know it's not working.

    It's not working!

I said a little. Pissing off folks for 20 minutes is fine with me. Like I said, make your point and move on. Anything more than that I disagree with. If there is an emergency, protesters should disperse.

I cant agree with a moment of it, the demonstrators have no way of knowing if there is an emergency, perhaps a parent will lose a job for being late that one last time. They dont know and could care less. No justifiable reason to interfere with someones free movement.

Let's look at the whole picture. First of all, cops are not going out and targeting black people. Remember, most of the time someone called the cops and they responded to a black guy doing something. Second, why is the left going nuts over a VERY SMALL number of blacks killed by cops when their own murder rate dwarfs it? Third, why are these murder victims, if in fact they were actually murdered, more important than the murder victims blacks and illegals? Can you imagine how insane the left would go if these riots were caused by people frustrated with the murders of blacks and illegals?

If you ask me, this is another one of those things that comes around and get the emotional types all emotional. Remember when it was the rain forest, owls, dolphins, whales, owls, etc? Now it's black lives, and often criminal black lives.

In 2018 blacks committed more than 3,000 murders. Considering their population rate, the problem is not with the police, blacks have a problem with other blacks and it's ignored. The left is focusing on a hangnail and ignoring the cancer.

And when the left says 'institutional racism,' to me that's just another excuse for why blacks commit more crimes than anyone else percentage wise. Tell me how it's possible for one race to keep another race down without even trying?

Finally, every time the left mentions blacks, whatever they're going to say is negative. Tell me something positive about blacks as a whole. The left can name all kinds of wonderful things about illegals and how they lower the crime rate and are the backbone of our economy. So what about blacks, where is their contribution?

No, they shouldn't piss off anyone. They should stand in parks and shout out their message. They can take ads in the newspapers and on TV. They can use billboards and even send up smoke signals. But they should not interfere with the lives of people who want nothing to do with them.

You're an anti Trump kinda guy, right? How about if I protested at your house, street and place of work in order to get you to like Trump, do you think it would work?

If you pissed me off for 20 minutes and left, I'd get over it in 20 seconds.
