Are you predicting unity after the election?

I don't have a crystal ball but I think it's safe to say the party that is trying to seize power by propping up a demented old man has to have created some concerns even amongst their most loyal. I will predict chaos immediately after the election no matter who wins. You have to ask yourself, how American is that? This is all on the Democrats. God help us.

Two things--I do believe it will get bad no matter who wins, and I do believe that if we are looking at this as the good side and the bad side, we are imposing a lot of our own bias on the information we choose to believe. I don't like Biden, but he's likely not going to be around that long. I see both the Democratic and Republican Parties as manipulative and destructive in terms of the old founding principles. We seriously have to start seeing "Them" as all those in power, not those who belong to another party.

Are you UNAWARE that it is INDEPENDENTS that DECIDE the OUTCOME of elections and that the number of Independents has significantly INCREASED since the Tea Party EXTREMISTS took over the GOP causing FORMER Republicans to become Independents?

Yes I'm aware of that even after reading through the nonsensical capitalized words.

    LOL!

What I like about what was obviously tongue-in-cheek on your part is that it contained a feasible solution underneath.

Instead of Star Wars and superheroes we need to change our focus towards Scientists and Teachers and Doctors that are the equivalent of superheroes. They provide us with the Knowledge, Skills and Good Health to overcome the "forces of darkness".

When we elevate the status of well qualified professionals to the same degree that we currently do with sport, movies and the wealthy elite then we can move forward.

A great deal of our current problems stem from DENIGRATING teachers and public education. We MUST change that mindset and celebrate the dedication and hard work that these professionals are putting in to make a difference in the lives of our children. Granted that means a change in the mindsets of the parents to place the proper emphasis on the importance of education.

We have the power to change ourselves and all that is lacking is the vision and the motivation IMO.

    Thanks.
The ultimate irony is that I used to teach critical thinking skills and use satire as a way to promote those skills (BTW--you get an A for recognizing it). The sad thing is that a novel like 1984 walks us through the common methods of propaganda, as a general term for all the manipulation going on today), yet few see it as anything other than a warning about what happens when the Commies take over. I'm guessing that's why Orwell included that scene where the Prole woman sings outside Winston's window:

"As he looked at the woman in her characteristic attitude, her thick arms reaching up for the line, her powerful marelike buttocks protruded, it struck him for the first time that she was beautiful. It had never before occurred to him that the body of a woman of fifty, blown up to monstrous dimensions by childbearing, then hardened, roughened by work till it was coarse in the grain like an overripe turnip, could be beautiful."
She's singing a popular song written by the party and is mindlessly busy hanging clothes. All songs are written by the party for the proles in order to control the content and eliminate anything the party doesn't support. But why do you think Orwell did such a job of describing the woman who was singing? Is there a message in that?

I was forced to stop teaching all that kind of stuff because it wasn't anything students would find on a test.

This is true...people have left both parties over the years....but this Court battle couldn't come at a worse time for Dems. It's what likely put Trump voer Clinton in 2016....the American people don't like radical leftist judges, and they don't like the threats the Dems have been making about how they will fundmentally change the United States if they have a majority....this is likely going to put Trump the edge, but also ensure they hold on to the Senate as well.

Actually, it’s the other way around. (although it’s not uncommon for right wingers to make such an empty allegation).

Research in the last few cycles clearly show that a great many “independents” are straight right wing talk radio types./

Evidence of it is all over this board, too.

Just make it up and spew it out!

There were no Democrats in the tea party scam. It was 95% white, and 100% Republican. It was run from K Street, and. the right wing rubes bought it. Before that, they were “Bush dead enders”. After that, they all bought red hats/

Name names. If you are a frequent poster on a political site I doubt you are truly an independent.

    Read what you posted.

I read that somewhere around 'But my best friend is a Black man.'

Putting the color of someone's skin before who they are as a person pretty much tells it all.

I would put this differently. I think this may be the last election that matters. If we fail, we fail to take even a tentative step to change the exponential threat of accelerated climate change. We kill at least 8 more years if we re-elect Trump because it takes that long to negotiate a treaty, get it passed through all these countries, and get any results. Its just too long.

On the contrary, they appear to have done nothing .. which is as 'equality' driven as it gets. Heck, it's almost as though for the past 20 years, Republicans have regarded black Americans as perfectly capable and fully realised adult humans.

You should probably ask every person invested in the Democrats on the premise of slowing Climate Change, to dramatically alter their lifestyles to reflect that goal. That's all it takes .. 50% of a citizenry giving up their consumerism.

What's that you say? They don't want to and shouldn't have to?

It's becoming the key to getting along in life. It's like being back in the 1950's, when you had to pretend (if you weren't) that you were a Church-going Christian to get anything done. Find someone prepared to marry you, secure a job, get a home loan, join clubs, etc etc.

I get what you're saying but it's a losing proposition, go with the winner but live your own life.
