This is an honest question to Republicans: what do you guys believe in now?

what are the fundamental values and goals of the Republican party, both in terms of domestic and foreign policy?

seems things have changed a bit over the last 12 years, so I'd like to know what the Grand Old Party is now all about.

    thanks in advance.

I believe our President and Congress should put America and Americans first, and our supreme court should uphold our constitution (not "improve" it.).

Looks like you didn't get many replies in here. I'm sure your dense trolling history doesn't help this fact. I'll bite though

    - Energy independence (yes we want clean energy but not if we have to depend on other countries for oil), just face it, we aren't in a scientific position to completely give up on oil yet
    - America first (not foreign workers first)
    - LEGAL IMMIGRATION, not a free for all
    - small GOVERNMENT
    - Racial EQUALITY (not racial segregation). The left just can't help but separating people into groups. Blacks aren't Americans to them, they are "the black community". We are all people...the left needs to learn this...also your buddy Jim Crow Joe has a HUGE racist history, HUGE!
    - a strong police force, NOT de-funded police
    - A strong military, not a weekended one
    - Peace, not WARs for the financial gain of greedy democrats

I could make the list bigger but I don't speak for ALL Republicans and there are some issues I agree with the left more on like
    - Pro Choice (within reason)
    - stem cell research
    - gay peoples' right to be married

We aren't all the same, but you guys just love to put people in groups...know why ? because you guys have ZERO respect for individuality.

Would our left be so adamant for stem cell research if it led to discovery of a "gay gene," which could be corrected?

I'm not a Republican or GOP, but I am a republican, generally conservative and 'right wing', and I get accused of being a Republican often enough on this forum that I feel I have a right to answer the question.

I believe democracy must be limited or the mob will vote itself (and everyone else) into a new hell. Our democracy is limited by the Constitution. I believe in a literal interpretation of the Constitution, and I believe the only means we ought to be using to change it is via Constitutional Convention. For example- we have the right to bear arms. That includes machine guns, grenade launchers and nuclear weapons unless and until we hold a Constitutional Convention to change it. We should hold one tomorrow and modify the 2A to specify that machine guns, grenade launchers and nuclear weapons are not 'arms' 'necessary to the security of a free state' (and I will support that, ftr). Until we do, restricting them is literally unconstitutional.

I believe laws should have nothing to do with morality, and should only ever be made in the interest of preserving a minimum degree of order that society requires to function (within the constraints of the Constitution). This means it is lawful and should be legal to get an abortion, carry a gun, smoke weed, hoard wealth, worship satan, be racist and use offensive language. It is unlawful and should be illegal to initiate violence.

I believe the law is obligated to protect the individual from the collective, and the individual is morally obligated to sacrifice for the collective. This must only ever be the individual's choice, never the collective's right to enforce.

I believe cats > dogs, Ford > Chevy, Simpsons > Family Guy.

Assuming that dubious claim to be true, it makes you an outlier in the POT.

As an American, I believe that the government should get back to serving the people. I believe that lobbies and lobbyists should be outlawed. I believe in regulation that is designed to protect citizens and our environment. I believe that taxes paid by the citizens should pay for things that make a positive difference in the lives of those citizens, like healthcare coverage.

Would the Right accept correction if they knew it wasn't?

Having an older brother increases the odds of being gay. Which means it's not just genetic. One hypothesis I like is that gays are a needed part of the social ecology.

I'm not a republican but I can suggest that republicans want the same thing democrats want. That is political power.

We could care less who is in power as long as you leave us alone , don't raise taxes sky high , honor the constitution and have a strong military.

That stuff is easy. My real desire is to have a much smaller federal government. That is somewhere between hard and impossible.

As a Liberal I’ve got a problem with, “I believe that lobbies and lobbyists should be outlawed”.

The Supreme Court looks at this passage as interconnected:

Congress shall make no law respecting...

...or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

That is where lobbying fits within.

We likely need to look at campaign finance to address the dollars and/or challenge the “corporations are people” decision, and/or address the way we do business—LLC, 401c, etc. We “allow” faceless nameless dollars to be laundered through our campaign system.

We likely would be better off if we could get as close to “one person, one vote” as we can constitutionally get.

    Lol @ largesse.

That's about two boy scout pledges and three oaths of office. It's a list, not a description of principles.

Very simply, prioritization of individualism over collectivism.
