It's a huge part of it and when you add that fact to all the arson caused fires you get the perfect fire storm.

If there were no arson caused fires in California this summer would be an average fire season instead of what it is.

"Swain with UCLA and other scientists earlier this year published a study that said climate change has doubled the number of extreme-risk days for California wildfires.

It said temperatures statewide rose 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit since 1980, while precipitation dropped 30%. That doubled the number of autumn days that offer extreme conditions for the ignition of wildfires (Climatewire, April 3).

The heat is expected to get worse with time.

The amount of land burned last week is more than the total burned in all of 2018, and more than double the amount burned in 2017, according to data released by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire)."

Feel free to dispute my statement with facts.
Fact is a very large number of the biggest fires were arson caused.

Fact is arson happens every year.

Fact is, you made the assertion, so the burden of proof is on you.

    Good luck.

Debate is not about impressing your opponent or changing their mind which rarely if ever happens. It's about helping people on the fence become more informed and letting them decide which debater is making the best arguments to present their case.

    From your article:

"Nobody denies climate change is occurring and playing a role in warmer temperatures and heatwaves."

But it does a bait and switch when it implies scientists are saying the fires are “a product solely of climate change" No climatologist says that, which makes it propaganda.

Part of the problem is people building where it is guaranteed to burn. So you see people that got burned out, rebuilt, and then got burned out again.

Climate change is going to make that worse.

And that brings me to the real point here, we have some tough decisions to make, and mindless denial doesn't help.

Nobody denies climate changes. That's unassailable fact and man is always adapting to climate change.

Germany went green full gas. Germans pay ~ 3X for electricity than we do in the US (outside of CA). Now the Germans are shutting down all their nuclear power stations and (believe it or not) are building lignite (the dirtiest form of coal) plants. In Spain they committed to green power and lost 3 jobs for every green job due to power cost increases.

Many of the fires were started by lightning. The fires spread rapidly because the woods and open grassland areas were full of dead wood fuel. PG&E was forced to spend on wind and solar. They skimped on equipment maintenance and distribution line easement maintenance. CA governance is a complete and tragic joke.

When Biden claimed he'd rebuild the new american energy in the debate, folks need to listen to him. He's serious. And his "plan" will destroy jobs in our country, just like it has everywhere it's been implemented. Joe is the job's killer.

Going "green" fails every time it's tried with current technology. As of now fossil fuel is irreplaceable.

And the ironic sadness of all this is that the so-called climate change advocates are in favor of subsidizing the wrong technology. They are prolonging the development of economically competitive solar technologies. The money used for subsidizing economically non competitive technologies could and should be invested in new technology.

    Charting a future course:

    Preventing future forest infernos
The 2020 fire season is nearing its end. But monstrous wildfires continue to rage across America’s western states, devastating towns and habitats, and killing hundreds of people and millions of animals. Politicians and environmentalists continue to rage that climate change is the primary factor, allowing few responsible, commonsense forest management actions that could actually reduce the risks.
