Why not just force people who have not had the vaccine to sew a yellow "V" on their clothing?

This is just flat out ignorance.

When medications are created and tested in full copliance of FDA procedure with openness and honesty there is serious protection for the manufacturer, the treating physician, et al, from lawsuits claiming damage.

In the case of this vaccine, the FDA gave its emergency approval. In fact, that wasn't even just the decision of science based medicine - Trump ORDERED FDA to approve.

To now claim that the protections that come with that are a plot against the population is ...

... JUST PLAIN STUPID.

First of all, this vaccine is free to most people.

Can you imagine that ANY insurance policy would deny someone getting COVID protection???

Companies like bioNtech, Pfizer, Moderna and J&J will make a very nice profit from the vaccines.
That is very much ok with me.
Biontech started in January with its research, had to ask its investors if they could transfer money from their cancer vaccine research to C19.
If not successful it could have finished the company. Its very difficult to have a company, which has never made a profit and than gut its real research to go on a wild chase of a possible pandemic. They risked everything and they should have a very nice profit, same for everybody else who produces a vaccine.
Nothing wrong with that.
3M probably makes some rather good money on PPE, nothing wrong with that.
They are doing something good, why should they not be rewarded?
They actual produced and invented something that benefits all of us.

When I grew up, you would not allowed to go to school, if you had not been vaccinated against abc or what ever, you could not travel, because you needed proof of vaccinations. The yellow Vaccination Passport. If you had missed one they send you back, on your own cost.
I still have my yellow passport of corporate fascist totalitarian hell. We travelled free, no security checks, just like getting on the bus, walk around the airplane, with a drink in your hand, smoke, hang out with the crew. Visa were easy, you got them in 20 minutes, put the passport on the counter and your vaccination record, the yellow passport.
A truly free world, simple, with a few rules, big deal, you took the shots, or had them.

You have no idea what freedom is, if you have not been a young adult in the 60s and 70s and 80s.

You are bitching about a vaccine and a a probably mandate, if you want to work and travel.

I don't necessarily agree with everything drug companies are doing, but it is absolutely the truth that getting to the first deliverable dose of a new medication is FABULOUSLY expensieve. And, making that attractive under our rules of capitalism is what makes our medical system work.

 

You probably prefer to remain unaware of it and not discuss it, but do you know how many dollars have been plundered from the US Treasury by way of the CARES Act? Do you pay federal taxes? Do you know how much of that will go for vaccines?

Few things in life are free, even if a politician tells you something is free.

 

Please remember that I have never claimed anything was free. In fact, I've pointed out that our pharmaceutical industry is a for profit operation and that capitalist corporations can't spend the gigantic amounts of money required to create a new vaccine without confidence that they will get paid.

And, I pointed out that our capitalist insurance companies are sure to pay for vaccination against COVID given the gigantic expense of treating the disease. A few hundred vaccine doeses doesn't come anywhere close to the cost of one hospitalized COVID patient.

After that, it appears you're upset about some government program that may or may not be cintributing to getting people vaccinated. But, I haven't commented on government support for vaccinations, eitther, have I?? And, it's pretty obvious that achieving "herd immunity" through vaccination needs to include those who have been economically devestated by this pandemic.

If the vaccine was 100% effective I wouldn't care. However, it's not. What really scares me is the trumpers who don't mask. I guess in the long fun trumpers will be the largest majority of non-mask people and as a result will in turn be the largest number of deaths which in turn will make it easier for the Dems the next time there's another presidential election. I guess I really don't have any complaint.

 

What about democrats/liberals/leftists that don't mask?

Since it's not 100% effective, you're not really safe even with people that have gotten the vaccine, right? Shouldn't you just be staying away from everybody if you're concerned about it? No business for anyone, that'd be the safest policy, right?

Personally, I'm starting to explore the possibility of selling the vaccine cards to folks for a tidy profit.

Just another right to be taken away. These reactive type measures are why America is so full of snowflakes. Anytime something significant happens you have this huge group of loud people who want things banned or cancelled. We gave away our privacy after 9-11 and have never gotten it back. Now they want to take away our ability to make medical decisions for oneself. I just find it funny that many people on this thread called Trump a facist for four years, yet they are willingly calling for forced vaccinations. Maybe it takes a facist to know a facist?

Well, it would be illegal to start a drug dealing business. AFAICT, it's not illegal to sell photocopies of the "COVID 19 Vaccination Record Card" (but I'm open to any new information you have on this matter).

 

Aiding and abetting someone into falsifying medical records is illegal. You could try selling one to an officer and explain to him the reasons why he should buy one off you if you like......

 

For me, getting COVID would probably be a death sentence. I avoid any one who doesn't mask. The odds are that person would be a republican.
