Courage Is Needed In D.C.

I would like to see one courageous politician in Washington D.C. stand up and call for removing the fence, razor wire, and federal troops from our capitol. I also say the MSM should be calling for the same removal. Politicians should stand up and be brave enough to face the people they represent and lead. Anyone too afraid to face the citizenry should not be making laws for the country. Is there a brave politician in D.C.? Why isn't the free press speaking out? The scene in D.C. is an embarrassment.

Politicians are most all cowards and those that aren't, the media isn't going to put on the news because God knows we cant question Pelosi. They need the fence to portray the narrative of the MAGA domestic terrorist.
We all need to be calling Pelosi's office and DEMAND she pull the fence down especially since they told us walls don't work. It's OUR house. "Pelosi, TAKE DOWN THAT WALL!"

 

It would be a total financial waste but I'd like to see every inch of trump's wall taken down.

 

I would like to see the Repubs like Trump responsible for the threat posed by white supremacists and armed militias still threatening violence stand up and say they should not "stand by" any longer. That they should turn themselves in to law enforcement if they participated in the insurrection. That they should find ways to express their views in non-violent, non-threatening ways.
I'd like to hear him admit he lied about election fraud. Apologize to the country for bringing the mob to DC and unleashing it on the Capital. Apologize to the families of the deceased. Tell the groups like the Proud Boys who so vehemently support him that racism has no place in America.

You say this guy needs more courage. I say just showing up to do his job is courageous.

 

And, there will ALWAYS be a future date they are planning. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY (outside LEOs) should be afraid to go to work and do their job.

I still shudder to think what would have happened to the seat of our government (like them or agree with them or not) if fast acting security and LEOs did not get our leaders to safety. It's heartbreaking to even imagine.

But it is too early yet to remove the barrier.

There's going to be a gathering in DC 1st week of March for nut heads to inaugurate trump as president.
So, we need to let the nutheads chill a little longer.

 

The politicians need to tone down the rhetoric as well.
The country takes on the character of the leaders.

It is fine to disagree, it is not fine to call them enemies as the politician like to do.
When they tone down the rhetoric, the country will tone down the rheortic.

Agree. I would like to see both sides stop calling the other "the enemy". We are all Americans.

But I agree with the OP. The barriers at the Capitol are unnecessary. Law enforcement will be ready for anything on March 4 or any later date.

Personally, I cynically think the continued presence of the barbed wire and National Guard is all political. I think there is a cynical calculation being made to prolong the "Trump crisis". "Never let a crisis go to waste", ya know? I think it's sheer naivete to think otherwise.

 

The courage and patriotism and grit of the average young person who serves in our military puts those members of Congress to shame.

 

Hell no!!! Trumpers are far too dangerous. They damn near managed to kill the VP and members of Congress. As long as trumpers are at war with the legitimate government, we need to protect our capitol.

I want to know my elected representatives are safe from trumpees whether they are wearing horns or wielding a gun. Trumpees need to be treated like the dangerous criminals they have proven to be.

 

Trump assembled an army, attacked the capitol, and almost managed a violent coup in an effort to overturn an election. And this was led by their president. Trump's army of misfits and rejects would gladly attack and kill the members of Congress as well as Biden and Harris. They would do it in a heartbeat.

It doesn't get any more serious than that. We are way way way past rhetoric, A state of war exists and will continue to exist for some time to come at least. Don't forget that for a moment!

That's why my 1st post stated we need to wait longer to remove barriers around Capitol.

But at some point it has to come down. They can not legislate from a protected tower.
They do need to be held accountable for actions and statements. They need the threat to tone it down.

I am not for violence, it is never the answer.

 

As much as I hate to type these words, I am beginning to think the ONLY way to put it back in order is for Trump to call off his minions and I don't see him doing that. He loves the power of lording over others. Just look at how McConnell, Haley, McCarthy, et al have capitulated.

I don't know what the solution is at this point but you are correct in that they can't work behind a barrier forever.

 

We are in a state of war. The cold civil war heated up and the rw attacked. To call it less than that is suicide.

The reason the attack nearly succeeded is that nobody took them seriously as a threat. Now they want you to make the same mistake again.

The R party is fractured. And will remain fractured as long as trump has standing. How long before he's neutered? I don't know. But there are many many that will be working to that goal.

Politicians know fences keep the tax paying citizens at bay but they are not needed when new voters are invading from foreign countries.

All the more reason needed for courage. Do you want people who run the country, pass the laws, collect the taxes, and spend the money, hiding behind fences and guns?

 

Oh god, please let that not be true. If it is almost half the nation has become adulterous cons in the mold of Trump, feeding off the gullibility and weakness of others like vultures.
