Are they the only ones honest enough to cover it properly?

Yes, ABC are CERTAINLY giving the epic Cruz news story (that the entire survival of Western Civilization hinges on) more coverage than the initial reports of 9/11! :roflol:

Seniors DON'T HAVE TO BE IN A NURSING HOME, in order to contract COVID, and DIE. In ANY state in which the Governor did not impose mask restrictions because he/she felt it inhibited freedom, or let unessential businesses, especially those in which crowds congregate (bars, restaurants, movie theaters, water parks, etc.) stay open, for economic reasons, it has been proven that resulted in more deaths. And the majority of deaths are seniors. In fact, that was even part of the argument many made, that only the old & weak would die, so why should the rest of us have to suffer?

They were willing, as were those governors, to TRADE seniors' lives for economic activity & non-infringement of peoples', "right," to not wear a mask, & be a potentially prolific spreader of the virus. You can't have it both ways, & now say those governors weren't responsible for their, "mistakes," but Democratic governors are.

It's actually pretty sickening that people would be trying to make something partisan out of this situation.

No, not specifically regarding Covid. That was the meaning of my sentence: if one is wont to complain about the way the media generally focuses on New York (& Los Angeles)-- i.e., they get too much emphasis, whereas one might wish other parts of the country should get more notice, & not be seemingly ignored-- well that extra attention is going to apply when things go wrong in New York, as well as when they go well. I think that was very clear in my sentence about the media attention cutting both ways. There was nothing to imply, in, "If you are one of those who feels that the media typically focuses too much attention on New York..." that I was only talking about with regard to Covid.

Even though we have some very different views, Chris, I'm happy to debate issues with you. But I do not relish needing to painstakingly explain things, that should not need to be explained, like that the word typically makes it clear I'm not limiting what I'm saying to one particular subject, or that when Covid runs rampant, so that more people die, more seniors also die. Did you think only seniors in nursing homes die from Covid? If not, why would you think I was limiting my statement in that way?

My request, then, is that you please take the time to read my comments more carefully, & think about your interpretation, if it seems to you that I'm saying something ridiculous, that doesn't make sense, before you post.

Lol...Cruz is indeed a threat to the repubs. His antics since trump called his wife a pig and accused his dad of assassinating JFK, and his seditious actions during the trump cult insurrection makes him an object of ridicule and disgust among all decent voters.

What were seniors doing at bars, restaurants, movie theaters and water parks?

How do you know that a lack of masking resulted in death?

But it HASN'T applied when things have gone wrong! That's the point!

    No.

Because nursing homes is what was being discussed in the post of yours which I responded to.

ROFL! Your post along with your avatar makes it 100% Gold!

You are 100% correct. The MSM would ignore it, or provide minimal coverage. Cruz didn't kill 15,000 elderly, cover it up, lie to the public, and threaten those that would tell the truth. Cruz didn't have a deal with his son to take 10% of his grift as his son sold access to his office. Cruz could do little to nothing, but provided bad optics with a poor decision and it's somehow a big story. Our MSM is a propaganda machine for stupid people.

The level of pure, unabashed, blatant, and obvious whataboutism (technically a variant of the tu quoque (you too) fallacy) is so incredibly great in this post as to boggle the mind. Joseph Stalin, a great user, and developer of this type of propaganda would be so proud.

His Constituents are literally freezing to death in their homes, this ******* jets off to Cancun while another rep from a completely different area raises money to help the people he neglects. Republicans make excuses for him while attacking the woman who actually helped people and the suffering people themselves.

And people wonder why I say that conservatives sicken and disgust me.

What's the difference between Texas and most 3rd world shitholes? Texas is bigger and everybody wears stupid hats.

    @HB Surfer ,@TheAngryLiberal
I told you the press (i.e., the MSM) was not going to give Cuomo a free pass, that the less transparent details of Cuomo's story were just dripping out more slowly, & that all the attention New York gets for praiseworthy news, would surely come back with an extra-hard ass-bite, for negative stories, as well.

Covid is highly transmissible, Chris. That means, seniors don't have to go to the water park to catch it, only come in contact with people who had picked it up while they had been there, & who are not taking all the known precautions-- wearing a mask (correctly) and frequently washing their hands-- when, for example, our parents, are in their proximity-- even if it is only in the infected wake of their prior passing through.

Masking has clearly demonstrated it tamps down the spread of the virus (this has also been a very mild flu season, in the number infected, because of those Covid precautions).

The specific quote of mine, to which you were responding, was--
-- which does not narrow deaths to nursing homes, in those states other than New York, to which I'm referring. Cuomo's mistake, specifically affected nursing homes; the decision to not put beating the virus as their #1 priority, by numerous governors, led to more deaths everywhere in those states, & the vast majority of deaths (80%, I think) have been seniors.

And you feel that is happening currently?

So the entire State has to be locked down just because some idiots don't take precautions and end up killing their elderly relative?

    According to what evidence?

Specifically masks, or the fact that that the country has been shut down? I think that we can safely say that if nobody wore masks, it would have also been a very mild flu season, just from the lockdowns.

You mean just like the existence of the road system is trading peoples' lives for economic activity & non-infringement of people's right to freedom of movement?

Do you feel the story is NOT getting attention? To the contrary, the attention from THIS, has emboldened women to share their stories about the popular governor's way of interacting with them, which are now ALSO getting full play in the PRESS (which is what the thread, let's remember, is about: the media's supposed inconsistency in its treatment of politicians of the two major parties).

If NY voters decide to stick with Cuomo, despite the controversies, that will not be a result of the media burying, or soft-pedalling, the stories. The Albany (state capitol) Newspaper, which has endorsed Cuomo 4 times, is now calling for his REMOVAL!

There are, in fact, two different investigations, ongoing, into the governor's actions. And Cuomo has been stripped of his emergency powers to manage the state's pandemic response. As far as repercussions from MeToo-style allegations, NEW YORK's voters are more-inclined to take those seriously into account, than are the voters in many other states, including most or all of the Red ones, for example. Meanwhile, the hubbub over Cruz's Cancun fiasco has ebbed to silence, as I predicted.

Ultimately, though, it's the voters who will likely decide Cuomo's fate. I assume that is as you agree, is only proper. I shouldn't need to point out that there are politicians on the right, as well as the left, who have continued to enjoy their constituents' support, despite controversies. There was a Republican Congressman elected circa 2016, who was shown to have assaulted (body-slammed) his opponent, the day before, or of, the election. But the voters of Wyoming, or wherever, were OK with that-- hey, he's THEIR representative, right? Likewise, after getting out of jail for smoking crack cocaine, Marion Berry was once again elected mayor, by Washington, D.C. voters.

One cannot treat these incidents differently, dependent on the party of the accused, and not some relevant difference in the offenses, without demonstrating a blatant, partisan hypocrisy. I strive to avoid falling in with that inglorious lot, by staying consistent. I just today posted in falcon's thread, about Republican Rep. Cawthorn's controversies, vis a vis the treatment received by Cuomo, saying that, in both cases, the voters will make the final judgement. If I were to have argued for more leniency for Cuomo, or harsher treatment for Cawthorn, you would have immediately recognized the two-faced, disingenuousness of that. Why would anyone who plays this kind of favoritism with Republican/conservative politicians, not think others can recognize, as well, their insincere duplicity?

Not all elderly people can stay home & have all their needs attended to. Have you not seen older people (65 and older) at the supermarket, or elsewhere? Were they all related to you?

I almost didn't bother to retrieve the links for you, since they are SO EASY TO FIND, you have no excuse for expecting this service; more to the point, the fact that you HAVE NOT YET investigated this, yourself, by this point, makes it very clear that you are only asking for me to waste my time, because you have no desire to look at evidence. I would very much like you to prove me wrong, here, because I consider this very rude of you.

But the mere fact that the virus travels through water vapor (&, if you can't accept this scientifically proven & accepted fact, then you are hopeless; where's your evidence that the worldwide scientific community is wrong?-- 'cause, no offense, Chris, I'm not gonna take your word over all theirs), and masks have long been proven to block water vapor...uhh, do you really need for me to do the math for you?

    https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02801-8

    https://www.pnas.org/content/118/4/e2014564118

This is a ridiculous analogy. I am not going to waste my time, unless you have at least the courtesy to, first, waste your own, by going through your analogy, in detail, showing how perfectly applicable a road system is, as a model for why it doesn't make sense to wear a mask. Your analysis should also show that you have considered the differences between the two, as far as the analogy is concerned, which I would certainly bring up, in my reply.

By the way, if this hasn't occurred to you, people HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGED NOT TO TRAVEL, or USE the ROADS AS A MEANS OF CONVEYANCE TO POSSIBLE COVID EXPOSURE, when avoidable. I will point out this most basic idea-- that no one is saying we should sit home, alone, wearing a mask-- goes a long way to debunking your purported analogy: driving on the ROADS, in your car, truck, or other closed vehicle, alone or with people who you also live with (& do not wear a mask for) is the EQUIVALENT OF WEARING A MASK!!!! Of course, one can still wear a mask, while inside a vehicle, if one is not with a housemate; though, a better-quality, P-95 mask might be indicated, especially if it is not a short trip; otherwise, it should at least be a paper (medical-style) mask, which has smaller pores than the spacing between fibers in a cloth mask.

(Once more, I'd like to stress to you, Chris, how rude I find the, "tactic," of assigning work to the person with whom one is disagreeing, without the willingness to demonstrate a similar investment of effort, or an openness to the results of one's counterpart's efforts, once this assignment is handed-in by your fellow debater.)

Well people have been able to go to the supermarket all over the world during COVID, regardless of lockdown. So I don't see how that is relevant at all. You specifically mentioned, "bars, restaurants, movie theaters and water parks" in relation to death of seniors. Why?

Why would I try to prove you wrong when I'm not suggesting the opposite to you regarding masks, that they are useless. I don't know where you would get such an idea from.

A Google search for "covid water vapour" returns no relevant results. What are you referring to?

You have totally misunderstood my analogy. Why does the road system exist even though its existence costs lives?

All totally irrelevant to my analogy.

How the hell am I "assigning work" to you?
