I have never seen why folks think capitalism and socialism are mutually exclusive. It must stem from the idea that you can only have 100% socialism or 100% capitalism and never a blend of the two.

The benefits of liberty and justice don't depend on who is running the operation.

Many complain about the benefits they receive in this nation.

If you take a crap in the forest does that mean it doesn't exist? If I need an abortion why are there people keeping me from that liberty of controlling my own body?

You can have a blend of the two, but they are still opposites in a sense. Like sweet and sour.

Nobody gets a 'refund' on those, they pay for social programs like SS and Medicare/Medicaid. It's disingenuous to try to include them to support handing out welfare calling it a tax refund.

Care to CLARIFY what you mean by that because it is NOT clear what you are intending to communicate.

FTR if you OVERPAY your Federal Payroll TAXES you WILL be refunded the excess.

Another retort with a bald assertion that I'm wrong, but with literally ZERO details telling me where, lol.

Because abortion is killing someone else. It's not just "your body". By that logic, why is murder illegal? Why do we try to control the trigger finger of people who want to murder someone else? It's their trigger finger, their body, right?

Because if you have liberty and justice, you don't need the favor of the powerful. It's when you don't have liberty and justice that you need the favor of the powerful.

bringiton just got through telling you that property tax rate and land value are inversely correlated. That means: in general, the higher the property tax rate the lower the land value. It's a causal relationship: property tax rate that falls on land value will reduce what the landowner can take from the community, therefore lowering it's sales value.

So before you claim other people's posts lack content, perhaps you should at least assert some effort into understanding what you are responding to in the first place.

Correlated, perhaps. But to say that property tax is the only factor in land values is naive. California has property taxes that are more than half the rate that they are here. California real estate prices are easily double or more. Median home price in Texas - $172k. California - $505k.

But go back to the claims where I was accused of being "wrong" and where I asked "why" - and crickets...

No, it isn't...there isn't a "someone else" until birth.

Yes, it's all the pregnant woman's body. IF it wasn't she still would have the right to remove this "person" who is illegally using her body to sustain it's life....NO one can do that legally...

Uh, you just left "logic" behind with that one...

Only if by 'not a choice' you mean being born into a very poor Third World country or some kind of dictatorship.

But if by 'not a choice' you mean living in the richest and free-est nation on earth but not being able to afford things you want because you didn't plan ahead from day one to eventually be able to afford those things - no dice :)

Which is several orders LESS selfish than "I can't be @ssed getting mine, so you should get it for me. And make sure you get your own while you're at it, because your job is to carry me AND yourself"

If your job feels exploitative and you can't tolerate that, you are free to leave at any time. Ergo, you cannot be 'exploited' unless you choose to be. Ergo it's not exploitation, it's you choosing to be underpaid.

So newborns go to school and find jobs? More interesting new facts about life I wasn't aware of! People forced by law to go into debt, babies getting office jobs ... where does it end!

Might be the right time to remind you that we live in rich capitalist democracies, not Bangladesh. We can choose to escape poverty, they can't.
