Gun deaths have been an epidemic for my entire life in the good old USA and I am 80. It is not a recent phenomenon, it has just been getting worse year after year as we allow more and more raving maniacs to buy guns and ammunition.

 

Coming from a Democrat it's likely less about enforcing existing law than giving the BATF a green light to harass FFL holders out of business. I trust Democrats with the 2nd Amendment like I trust pedophiles with a preschool.

I seem to remember a previous administration that tried to order gun dealers to sell guns to prohibited people "track" them. In fact wasn't Joe feeble mind Biden part of that administration?

This is of course another red herring thrown out to distract the public and allow politicians to avoid actually facing the challenges. The regs covering gun dealers are stiff, and you would be hard pressed to find any that would risk their license to sell wrongfully. The percentage of crime that relates to bad gun dealers is minuscule. It's like the assault rifle crap. 750 shot in Chicago in one week, NONE of them with rifles. None of those guns shot themselves, either- it was always the hand of a person bent on murder that used them as a tool..... but it's unpopular to point out the volume of black on black violence, and now getting unpopular to report the rising number of shooting of police officers- which seem to be mostly by black criminals.

300,000 failed background checks in 2020 and given the lax (none)penalty applied to dealers that didn’t administer checks this is a step in the right direction.

Next step is having background checks apply to ALL guns sales. That might actually make it through this Congress.

His speech was HORRIBLE. It was INSULTING. It was DEMEANING to lawful gun owners. And said NOTHING about what we are going to do to take criminals off the streets, NOTHING about what we are going to do to bolster law enforcement to get this crime off the streets. It was all about how the government will prevent law abiding citizens from owning weapons with which to protect themselves when necessary.

As I heard one commentator not that when they panned back the camera there was not one else in the room except Garland. No rows of police captains and sheriffs showing their support. An empty room.

What did Biden say in his speech he was going to do about the CRIMINALS and getting them off the streets so they do not prey on the law abiding citizens and turn their communities into desolate areas of poverty?
