An observation about the Gabby Pettito case

Its just a byproduct of popular social media and culture, you can filter out the bad parts of life when you produce it, all people but mostly the young might have trouble filtering that when reflecting on themselves. Even before social media, lots of people in entertainment and politics could do this pretty well and its always a shock when the bad news comes out and you find out they are human with problems and downfalls themselves.

 

Guilty or no, ANYONE who doesn't "lawyer up" when the authorities are giving them the fish-eye is a FOOL, followed by INMATE.

 

crimes of passion are all too common, what happened, none of us know yet and may never know

 

Its a paradox - I would not be able to sleep if the woman I love was lost.

Serious psychopath to drive home in her vehicle, without her, act like nothing happened, and lawyer-up.

His parents are dirty too, and they will go down.

 

I've been in an abusive relationship (not to assume this was cookie cutter abusive) it's not uncommon to show roses and love infront of others. I don't think blogging youtubing makes a relationship like that any different.

 

It is his only hope. Assuming he is guilty of causing her death, he would be a rare individual to own up to his actions. Few people take responsibility for the bad things they do. If he doesn't talk the cops will have to prove their case without his help.

 

If the family has money he is probably already out of the country.

I hope whoever killed Gabby, I hope the killer is found and pays for it.

 

He hopefully has cash on him.

 

Obviously this is a tragedy, but frankly the girl sounds like a lot of work. The boyfriend had to pretend this nonsense "dream" of hers was real for a long time, and I guess he couldn't keep his mouth shut and finally tried to tell her the truth, and I guess things went down hill from there.

 

I disagree. I believe people of all ages "escape" into becoming a "star" by broadcasting their smiling faces and their "Camelot existence all over FB. They actually believe it themselves.....then reality bites them in the butt! Of course there is far more going on here in this case, but I see it every day in people I hold dear. They live their own "REALITY SHOW!

 

Wyoming has death penalty, so the killer will be big trouble once caught. The boyfriend is not helping his case by hiding, because now everyone assumes he did it. There was another couple murdered in the same area, so who knows what else is going on there.

 

It is funny to me that apparently he procured a lawyer upon returning home. Did the lawyer advise him to run? What's the deal?

 

Maybe he confessed to the lawyer who told him that he is looking at death penalty or life in prison, and he took off.

 

reality...... is that we all are just speculating and theorizing. We have no clue as to their relationship or what actually happened. La t report I heard was that the family lawyers instructed the family to just keep quiet and not say anything. On the basis ..that words can be misconstrued and misterpreted to fit whatever folks want to believe about this "fiance".
BUT....... His behavior has been suspicious for all the reasons stated. He doesn't have to say anything.......but hiding is not helping him.

Witnesses have reported seeing him hit her. Others saw her slap him..........so who knows.

This "code of silence" might just be a very smart move.

 

The fact he "took off" ........and is hiding......... is not doing him any favors. But it certainly adds to the intrigue ~~~

 

Probably because the young, idealistic types who jump in a van and drive 2K miles, are probably the sort who might just consume drugs?

 

But....this guy probably had one before he crossed the Fl line!

meh, we should not paint with a broad brush unless there are indications that is true. Not all young people who want to take a year out of their lives to go Europe or explore the US are doing it because they are drug addicts. By tommorrow we should know the cause of death according to the coroner, and maybe she did die of an overdose, but all I was asking the poster was to emphasize why he thought they were drug addicts when none of their posts or actions to that point indicate they were on illegal drugs. The traffic stop indicated admitting they were on legal medication they were not taking.

Narcissism is the trait that ties it all together. Live only for yourself and what pleases you. And because that "self" is imperfect, you capture what you feel is the good life on video, share it to the world, and believe that will cover the part of your life that is not so perfect while you ignore the problems. The contrast stood out to me like night and day seeing minutes of footage of this young couple in love, prancing about the west, and then contrasting that with the police video that was not staged. In my opinion, that denial cost Gabby her life no matter how it turns out! This is why I started this thread.

 

Funny, but you are so wrong! Just went to a Jackson Browne concert. There was no variation in age. All in the late seventies and actually all with gray hair, some shoulder length on men and some in ponytails (what my wife calls "rat tails") The guy next to me asked if I minded if he smoke a "doobie", I didn't mind, I did it myself up until the early 80's. They were hooting and hollering just like in the seventies like the last time I saw Browne. One thing I'll say..... Jackson has matured since then. Unlike many in his audience, his music was impeccable!

 

It is hard to watch the traffic stop vid and realize that while she was 22, she was still very much, a child. The suspected killer looked like a tweaker to me - talking too much with the hands...

Our society is not getting better - not that it was ever perfect.
