The Irony is delightful. Facebook, Twitter, google/YouTube have been systematically silencing the right for years.

The end result is an echo chamber of leftism where opposing viewpoints are not tolerated.

The side that's trying to censor are not the good guys.

Truth Social is one response to that.

 

There are hundreds of millions of Conservative Facebook/Twitter members.

All of them can criticize Facebook/Twitter without risking being banned.

Why does Truth Media have a rule against it?

 

The thing is Trump is not creating a forum where the goal is just to post and debate politics. His goal is to create a social media giant that can rival Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc... You don't get that by being an OG forum where people just talk about current events. If you want to compete with the big boys you have to be the full deal. You need people constantly posting and browsing. Whether they are throwing up their own pics, videos, experiences, vacations, evening out at the clubs, concerts, dates, recipes, Karen encounters, whatever. The big social media giants do not have hundreds millions of users because people are debating politics. When Trump has 89 million people following him on Twitter they are not just there for the politics. If people expect that by simply signing up and reading what Trump has to say is going to make his Truth platform successful they are sadly mistaken. If the social media platform succeeds people are going to need to use it more than to just debate politics. They better be posting selfies and night out on the town if they want success. I am not sure the Trump supporters on this forum and others are willing to make that type of commitment. Most will probably never even install the app and other will and just passively follow Trump without even building up any social group. The word "SOCIAL" is in social media for a reason.

 

Twitter just banned MTG for posting CDC numbers on Covid.

She went on the Tim Pool podcast 2 nights ago to explain this. Yesterday, Tim Pool was swatted during his livestream in retaliation.

Trump is permabanned from Twitter because big tech did all it could to see that Donald Trump wasn't reelected.

The biggest problem with Truth Media is that it caters exclusively to conservatives.

It can't work, or at least it will remain marginal.

 

I asked you a question, and the only thing you have to answer is that Twitter does the same thing as Truth Media.

Finally, since Trump is doing it, it's ok to censor members on social media.

No, I don't think that is the problem. IMO the problem is it caters to old people. Middle age to elderly people that care about political / tribal causes whether it is on the left or right. Look at any successful social media company and see what drives it. Usually it is young people. The exception may be FB because when people originally joined FB they were young but have now aged with the site. Most of those middle aged FB users are probably unlikely to join other social media platforms though. Like it or not you are not going to get boomers to start staring at their phones all day following their friends and sharing bikini bod pics with their social group.

 

Your points are meaningless in the grand scale of things. Twitter has close to 200 million users. You cited an example of 2 people perma banned. That is 2/200,000,000 which is 0.000001%. I know more people banned from Pokemon Go. You will need a lot more examples before you can claim oppression of conservatives.

 

Interestingly the other conservative social network quietly raised money recently. Maybe they will compete.

 

The point wasn't the number. The point was that Senators and even the sitting POTUS were censored, for the political benefit of the other party.

 

What does being a POTUS or Senator have to do with it? Can a POTUS or Senator post pornography on a social media site and not face the same punishment as others? Can they use foul language that you or I cannot get away with? Can they harass other users and get away with it? I heard MTG was warned 5 times about her postings but she continued to do the same thing. When you are in someone else home you play by their rules.

 

What you have here is two men standing against one another. Trump and Biden. How anyone could prefer Biden is beyond any logic. Just look and listen to him speak! He's a moron. No, not a catchphrase moron but a real one.

 

An elected official who claims to be a defender of the Constitution cannot be taken seriously when he cannot even follow the rules of Facebook/Twitter.

A self reinforcing of his lies and platitudes. This would be his attempt to saturate the internet eco system with his ideology...........in preparation for another urn at politics.

If they can silence the most powerful person in the world they can certainly silence you or me.

We all are aware of big techs bias, and it's only getting worse.

I have friends from 10 years ago who denied that bias coming to me freaked out and saying things are going orwellian pretty fast.

When you silence free speech it doesn't go away, it just moves to other channels.

 

Actually he's known for NOT micromanaging.

The only experience I've seen was working for years as a medic in an area with a very high density of casinos. Mostly Indian casinos but Trumps wasn't.

All in all his seemed to be the best run, he had great employees who were sharp.

Ultimately the casino shut down, but that was more because of political pressures from the local tribes.

When Trump's site starts beaning those that criticize him......or present ideas counter to the Trump bible.....................that will be just fine with the MAGA folks..........as that won't be curtailing free speach........it will be appropriate disciplinary action

It is only curtailing free speech when a MAGA person gets banned...........for espousing disinformation that is inflammatory etc. The fact that folks are banned for breaking the ROC...d(and has NOTHING to do with free speech)........seems beside the point. The fact that Trump was banned for posting garbage, lies, etc.......is ignored.

If this launch actually happens.........and the MAGA folks gather there............ Trump can "inspire " them into all kinds of activity ......as they solidify their loyalty to him......

 

Like I said he ran it well. The competing Indian tribes won because it's California.
