My Mom broke her ankle falling off a ladder and I got pulled over and got a ticket driving her to the emergency room
I'm guessing the police thought the time you were trying to save by driving recklessly wasn't going to repair her ankle.
I hope she heals properly and quickly. Hope there is not a next time, but if so, call 911. They can force the lights to change in their favor.
Sorry to hear this. Hope your Mom heals up quick and makes a full recovery! And that LEO was too harsh, 10 above is not much but it's the month end and they have quotas.
sorry to hear this, I have heard of people getting ticket, but then one asks.. was it worth it though, but yes, a warning would have been appropriate
That means nothing. 10 over in a 20 school zone. Besides, don't be mad that hot water burns when you decide to touch the it. If you think certain conditions should exempt you from the speed limits, work to change the law. Take the ticket with pride if you feel it was worth it, don't be upset about it.
You could try taking into traffic court, and make sure you bring proof that your mom actually broke her ankle and went to the hospital. Maybe the traffic court judge might have sympathy on you, but the probability is unlikely. The law is the law. If your mom had broke something else like her hip, it might be a different situation. Breaking an ankle is not the strongest reason to be speeding and going above the legal limit. You do also have to realize that people lie to traffic police about this sort of thing all the time to try to get out of a ticket. He might not have even known whether to believe what you, so just decided it made more sense to write the ticket. If he had seen an obvious bone coming out of your mom's ankle with blood, it would probably have turned out differently.
