Putin does not have a monopoly of European utilities. Yes they buy a significant amount of oil and gas from Russia but 38% of their electricity comes from renewables.

Europe has been buying fossil fuel energy from Russia for some time it is not new. Nordstream 2 is just a better way to deliver it and unlike Nordstream one it bypasses Ukraine.

Actually Europe is a test case for the climate change lie. Here is a continent that has little oil and gas and has every reason to move to renewables and any alternative energy souces. They act obsessed about global warming yet here they are buying significant energy from unsavory countries. They have been obsessed with CC for 30 years and still get 50% of their energy from fossil fuels.

 

But they support democrat's proposal's for high taxes on the superrich.

So the notion they are 'cronies' really has no significance.

See, the term 'cronies', carries the connotation of doing things for your rich buddies, and that applies far more to Trump, than Obama or Biden.

George H.W. Bush was the last U.S. President to deal effectively with Russia. Trump was playing nice with Putin while Russia continued occupying Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine.

 

If Russia is allowed to provide gas to the EU from NS2, they will have a monopoly on gas. That pipeline can provide twice the amount needed at a much lower rate and the entire EU will be on it.
Once that is accomplished, (In Putins head) he will make demands. In 2006 Putin shut off all gas running through Ukraine right in the middle of winter claiming a money dispute. His real reason for taking Ukraine is controlling their oil and gas which will give him control over who gets gas and who doesn't.

Next he would make demands like either leave NATO or you will be shut off. Its what he does. And it would take months before those NATO allies could recover and a lot of dead people without heat.
