    "Reduce speed limits on highways."

They long to continue the Authoritarian COVID Lockdowns: Their "solutions" for deliberately destroying Trumpian Energy Prosperity and Abundance.
    1. Mandate reduced speed limits on highways
    2. Mandate work from home up to three days a week
    3. Mandate Car-free Sundays in cities
    4. Mandate greater use of public transport and walking and cycling
    5. Mandate reduction of private car access to roads in large cities
    6. Mandate car sharing
    7. Mandate train use instead of planes where possible
    8. Prohibit business air travel where alternative options exist
    9. Mandate electric and more efficient vehicles
No thanks. "What is lurking dead ahead is stagflation; what may be lurking beyond that is far, far worse."

Great bit of political maneuvering by Republicans. I also read oil companies are limiting fuel availability and charging more for it in areas with vulnerable democrat politicians.

it’s gonna be a fun midterm

As opposed to having gasoline back where it was per gallon before Toddler Joe took over.

I do and with huge government subsidies American oil companies are raking in huge record profits. American oil production has been steadily increasing since T**** was kicked out, there is no restraint causing them to produce less other than themselves. They would have the consumer believe that they have to raise prices because of scarcity caused by restrictions but they are already producing more than early 2019 and will undoubtedly reach their peak of in 2020 by the end of the year.

Yea and Solyndra ripped off the Energy Dept (taxpayers) for a half a billion dollars. You whine about oil company profits, they provide you with goods and services......but they are bad as the orange man. Solyndra took a half a billion and supplied you with NOTHING, but they're OK. This is comedy gold.

Stop putting the blame on the wrong people.
If oil companies decide that they want a trillion dollars in profits and raise gas prices to $20 a gallon you'd scream for the govt to step in. But to have tens of billions each in profits and raise prices over $4 you blame the govt.
Let that sink in before you knee-jerk respond.

When I first started driving, gasoline was 50 cents per gallon. It never went back to its original price either regardless of who was president at the time.

    So many odd points here.

No, we don't pay 100% of their travel costs. And what is covered by the tax payers is covered for republicans as well.

Keystone doesn't CREATE new oil. It just moves it to a port through OUR country so it can be easily exported. We would be like Ukraine is to Russia, except Russia would be Canada and we would be Ukraine.

As for new leases, the problem is that the oil industry doesn't want to create a boom and bust cycle anymore. It has nothing to do with the number of leases. Investors in those companies won't tolerate the volatility traditionally in that industry anymore.

"Electric" cars are actually electric. No quotes needed. And I don't understand why we should drill for more oil to lower the price of gas because someone decided they wanted to buy a vehicle that gets 14 mpg? Why should we cater to them? If you don't want to cater to electric cars, then don't cater to the gasoline cars and stop subsidizing poor life choices.

If you want to go on a long road trip, a current day electric car isn't your tool of choice. Maybe soon, but not today. That said, abandoning them isn't the right answer either. Also, you didn't mention hybrids. Why not? They have the range for such road trips and some get upwards of 50 mpg, the sedans at least which is what most people should be driving instead of stupid oversized SUV's and trucks they don't need or use.

You have rolling blackouts in California because Californians have refused to invest in their electric grid. Part of that is on PG&E and other utilities operating there, but most of it is due to cheapness. That's California's own fault. But it's fixable, it just takes, you know, money, like everything in life.

The price of gas won't ever be cheaper. It only goes up and history shows that. Electricity costs, on the other hand, don't go up nearly as much over time. Why? Because gas is made from one product in a handful of locations. Electricity has been diversified. It's also produced much more locally and delivered by a wider range of means. So electric cars or hybrids are where it's at.

I'm happy to pay more at the pump, as it is only giving more incentive to harness alternative forms of energy. The sooner we are off of fossil fuels the better.
