can an impartial jury be seated, or will one of his many fans sneak onto the jury and force a mistrial?
It doesn't matter because unless he is found totall innocent the trial will never be considered fair by many.
I read where one of the potential jurors said nothing Bannon said could be trusted because he lies so much. The juror was disqualified. Now there is someone who has been paying attention.
Depends on your definition of a fair trial. The left has two separate definitions depending on who's accused. If they are accusing anyone on the right, its no different than the latest kangaroo committee. 1. Democrats will decide who can ask questions and who can't 2. There will be no cross examination of any witnesses provided by the left 3. Hearsay testimony is accepted as real testimony because its under oath 4. The rules of evidence will not be applied 5. Any testimony that isn't beneficial to the left will be held behind closed doors until Democrats decide what parts may or may not be released 6. No witnesses for the defense will be called 7. No witnesses that dispute testimony will be called
if he is found innocent gow can anyone honor a congressional subpoena again? unless he is found totally guilty trump will claim "totally vindicated "
At a hearing, Schoen (Bannon’s attorney): What’s the point of going to trial if there are no defenses? Nichols (Judge): Agreed. If there was ever a defendant that deserved the maximum sentence for his offenses it’s Bannon. For wasting everyone’s time and taxpayer dollars. It won’t stop here. He’ll appeal and waste even more of the public’s resources. Your fifteen minutes have passed dude.
Yes, an impartial jury will be seated with the security of the trial excluding the "fans" from entering the courtroom, unless they have help from the defense team.
Whenever a witch-hunt fails to convict, the target is "totally vindicated". IOW, Trump has already been "totally vindicated" repeatedly by his unhinged opposition. Hence his expanding political popularity and influence.
This is a trial in a court and has all the trimmings of any other trial in this country. Lawyers call and question wittnesses hearsay is not accepted rules of evidence apply the defense calls witnesses.... Civics teaches us that there is a difference between an investigation and a trial.
The Inconvenient Truth: “Conservative estimates by the Innocence Project suggest that at least 1% of the people in U.S. prisons are wrongfully convicted. That is 20,000 people. Six times more Black men than white men are incarcerated in this country.[1] ABC News reported last year that in 2018, in 800 jurisdictions in this country, "Black people were arrested at a rate five times higher than white people." And, "n 250 jurisdictions, Black people were 10 times more likely to be arrested than their white counterparts" in that same year.[2] A recent study found that 54% of wrongful convictions that later led to exonerations involved official misconduct — the police, prosecutors or both breaking the rules to get a conviction.[3] This same study found that police and prosecutors are rarely disciplined for this misconduct. Thousands of innocent people sitting in jail for collectively hundreds of thousands of years, and rarely is anyone held accountable — this is not justice.” LAW360, Perspectives, Why Law Schools Should Require Justice Reform Curriculum, By Donna Mulvihill Fehrmann | October 17, 2021. https://www.law360.com/articles/1422515/why-law-schools-should-require-justice-reform-curriculum
