D. Cheney torches Trump in ad: "He's a coward"

It is odd, isn't it, that Cheney has a voting record that is almost lockstep with what Trump wanted. But she sees a problem with 1/6 and wants it investigated, and now she's an honorary Dem.

Cheney was a despicable man when in power (and might still be) but he certainly showed his patriotism (in a way I didn't think possible) on 1/6/22. When most Republicans hid at home, he was there honoring the Capitol police - living and fallen.

It is possible to recognize that someone is correct in one thing, without accepting they are correct in all things.

In this, Cheney is absolutely 100% correct.

I wasn't aware that other adults just blindly follow others like that until I saw it unfold here upon joining. I never, ever would have guessed anybody would side with somebody that sided with another nation over our own.

I'm not a Cheney fan either but I admire her keeping her oath of office. I am also glad, while way too passive for far too long, stepped in and shudder at what could have happened had he not taken action when Trump refused to engage back-up. I still can't believe that anybody is defending that.

I'm going to have to make a new one to add that BS he spewed defending taking Saudi money last weekend which upset those of us that lost someone in 9/11. It's always about him and his wallet.

I did not like Cheney as a VP at all, but as Sec of Def, he was one of the best, especially how he really pushed the Joint level effort in command and control operations, that was what they called, a force multiplier.

I also agree with his assessment of Trump.

 

I can respect your option on her. It’s sad she is going to go down for literally being a check in a system that checks were designed to be in. But she did pick the road she’s traveling

 

I find it strange that people that still defend him aren't the least bit concerned by the sheer volume of people that actually know him, worked with or for him that have jumped off his Toxic Train ride. Why would they think they can assess him better than people that actually know him?

I would be furious if my boss or supervisor did nothing to take control of a situation in which we were trapped inside a building with thousands of enraged people that didn't hesitate to mob attack police officers working on breaching the building. Why would anybody trust him after that? I don't know why anyone would trust him *before* that either, but SPECIFICALLY after that.

What's the point in having a POTUS that can't or won't lead in a crisis?

 

I find it strange that you think the President controls the US Capitol Police. The President has no jurisdiction at the Capitol building. None. The DC mayor can ask for the National Guard to come in, and the Pentagon can approve that or not, but that's still not federalizing the guard, it remains in control commanding general of the National Guard of the District of Columbia, not POTUS.
