I read a similar report supposedly by a Ukrainian defender.
Could Russia’s Sudden Ukraine Retreat Mean a Tactical Nuclear Weapons Strike Is Coming?

'If Russian President Vladimir Putin tired of attrition and decided to use tactical nuclear weapons, how would Russian behavior—a rapid withdrawal and even leaving key equipment behind—be different? The answer: It would not be.'

'In 2012, Obama/Biden drew a “redline” around the use of chemical and biological weapons in Syria. When Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces subsequently used chemical weapons against a Damascus suburb, Obama stood down. Partisans subsequently questioned the existence of a redline. This was disingenuous as senior Obama/Biden officials had supplemented press reporting at the time with background press calls to think tankers and opinion leaders to enunciate how serious Obama/Biden was about the redline. When that wordplay did not work, many opposed to enforcing the redline shifted tack and argued that from the perspective of the bombs’ victims, it mattered little whether their death came from gas or explosive maiming. After all, the result was the same. Lost was any appreciation for what the end to the stigma associated with chemical weapons might mean for future warfare.'

Obama/Biden did not think past their nose.

'Putin might count on proponents fearful of any robust reaction to resurrect the post-chemical redline arguments in the aftermath of a tactical nuclear strike. He might calculate that Washington and Brussels will always look for a reason not to act or escalate and that both will be willing to engage in logical somersaults to do so. Simply put, Putin might calculate that Washington will paralyze itself until the danger of retaliation passes.'

Everyone wants to pretend that Russia is not a very dangerous nuclear power, and the plain reality is that they are.

What countries are downwind of these areas that Russia is rapidly retreating from?

Well, let's say Russia explodes a nuke in Ukraine. The nearest country down-wind from Ukraine is....Russia. Imagine that! Sure, a bit might go to Kazakhstan and China, and eventually Korea and Japan, but most of it would land in Russia.

Vladimir Putin said that Kharkov must be taken by all means, because of its proximity to the Russian border and its terrain - something that caused a great deal of problems with the Germans in WWII. So what's going on must be looked at in that context.

Let's not forget that Russia owns the sky in Ukraine and also has ships in the Black and Caspian Sea that can fire precision missiles, something they proved when they destroyed the mercenary training camp and arms depots near the Polish border - which is probably a thousand miles away. So, Russia doesn't need a large number of men.

I believe the number of Russian soldiers in Ukraine are a little over 160 thousand, in contrast to the Ukranian army of over 1 million that consists not only Ukrainians, or what's left of them, but also Nato soldiers and mercenaries.

But there's a reason for this limited number of men. The Russians know that there's always a greater will to fight when it's for one's own lands and homes. I'm sure that many Russians in East and South Ukraine, joined the DPR army to help free their own lands from the American imposed Junta in Kiev.

That won't happen for two reasons. 1) This time of year the wind blows North and East so even a mafia thug like Putin won't want the radio blowing back into Russia and possibly into Moscow itself. 2) Even Xi would abandon Putler if he did.

Russia is not retreating, actually it's advancing quite well in the Donbas. The towns you're thinking of are near Kharkov which Putin want's taken at all costs. So I assume Russia has some kind of Strategy.

As for nukes, yes Russia will use them if their survival is at stake, but not in Ukraine since they don't really pose a threat. Putin wants to protect Slavs from Western attacks, so he has no intention in joining them in their latest Slavic killing spree.

I do foresee Russia using nukes against Finland, Sweden and maybe the Near and Middle East, that is if they start posing an existential threat.

Yawn. No, Russia does not own the sky and they have never had air control. It has been contested all war to the point that cowardly Russian politics (all poorly trained with few current flught owners) fire missiles from inside Russia because it is to risky to even fly over Russian occupied Ulraine.

It is nice to see you are still spewing the sa.e old debunked retard bucket of lies about mythical CIA coupes though. The hard truth is the Ukrainians didn't like the corrupt Russian puppet so they got rid of him.

I assume we would see somewhat of a repeat of the spread we saw from Chernobyl.

~ In a very short time the Mighty Russia has lost 50 thousand troops. They leave their dead behind. The Russian military equipment left behind is old and outdated.
At this point the Russian citizens should push for the forced removal of PipSqueek Poootin — before it's too late !

Russia today attacked one of Termo Electro Stations in Ukraine, as a result many people are left without electricity. This is how their care of Ukrainian people and "denazification" look in practice. They got beaten and revenge is attack on civil infrastructure. This is the act of a true nation of cowards.

What wonderful logic. Kind of like arguing that the Titanic was still seaworthy because it was 'only' leaking on the starboard side while port side was doing a brilliant job!

As Comrade Christ said, "Why would Russians use nuclear weapons today? What's the point?"
I will ask you the same. What is the point of the Russians using nuclear weapons?
I think you are smart enough to understand that in reality, no one cares about Ukraine. In reality, on the territory of Ukraine there is a war between the West and the Russians. So to speak, there is a new redivision of the world.
If the Russians fought with Ukraine, really fought, then Ukraine would be crushed in a couple of weeks.
But the purpose of the special operation is much larger.
Therefore, the Russians carry out the sweep slowly. The Russians need to crush the West. What can be done in winter.
And if you look at the facts realistically, without idiotic cries about the greatness of the West, then you will see Putin's magnificent chess game. And it really is akin to a political great work.
    Take a look yourself.
    1. What is the GDP of Russia and what is the GDP of the collective West?
And look what is happening - Russia is getting an unprecedented budget surplus, and the collective West is on the verge of bankruptcy. And this despite the fact that winter has not yet come. Isn't this a great Putin combination?
    2. How many Russians are involved in a special operation in Ukraine and how many Ukrainians are mobilized + many mercenaries + many instructors + mountains of military supplies for Ukraine. And look what is happening - mountains of Ukrainian corpses and mountains of destroyed military equipment of Ukrainians, Russian control in all primary directions, the DPR and LPR, Kherson, Zaporozhye ... etc. have been liberated.
And at the same time, the losses of the Russians are surprisingly minimal (given the scale of what is happening and the multiple superiority of the Ukrainians in manpower and equipment, as well as in financing and media support) ...
In general, the actions of the Russians in this confrontation with the West look almost perfect.

I was in the vicinity of Kandahar. But I didn't see Rimbaud or similar clowns there.
