    I got a compromise for ya. If you don't want an abortion, you won't have to get one.

    All polls show that the overwhelming majority of the people favor pro-choice a la Roe v. Wade. Since the Ninth Amendment speaks of same "the people" I would say that it (the amendment) fails to justify the current mad mad wave of abortion restricting laws being enacted.

    I'm sure you're already aware that the vast majority of the people are blissfully ignorant of many things including the law. There was a time when the vast majority of the people, including the Catholic Church, believed that the earth was the center of the universe.

    So if you will, disregard for a moment what the people think or favor, and consider the law as it is written. The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

    Neither privacy nor abortion are enumerated as rights in the Constitution. Do we have a right to privacy? To abortion?

    Technically you are spot on. But a whole slew of people are gravely disappointed that some dick-heads on the court saw fit to suddenly wrench away an immensely-valued right from us.

    If states started making it a felony for men to masturbate would you believe that is a “good decision”? What about men being able to buy ED drugs?

    No, but we really have no right to ANYTHING in the BODY of the Constitution. The Bill of Rights are AMENDMENTS and they were included at some delegates urging because they were seen as particularly important. Many other delegates were against that being done and the main reason for that was because it was felt some might think these ten were the only rights we have.

    Which many conservatives are doing exactly.

    The Constitution doesn't include ANY rights, but it doesn't include any prohibitions either. The Founding Fathers thought that we didn't NEED enumerated rights but that we would simply do as we wished, being free citizens of a free country. They trusted to common sense that we would refrain from picking each other's pockets and breaking each other's legs.

    Which to me is the best proof one could ask for that they were NOT religious people

    I think abortion is right where it needs to be, the people's interests are best met at a local level. But that is not what you asked...

    The problem with your proposition is that those that are pro-choice are already willing to end a human life to stop an unwanted pregnancy. There is NO WAY these same people are going to ask a man for permission - for anything :)

    And honestly, even though I have moral objections against abortion, I do not think a man (or the government) has any business making this decision for women.

    Maybe we should let the child decide, surely they are the most impacted by the decision ;)

    This is where I completely do not understand the pro-choice argument. You are basically hashing out when a woman has the right to make her own "health decisions". That kind of flies in the face of the whole women's health/my body my choice argument.

    The idea that the nation is in deep turmoil over this is a media fake news creation to try to get the subject off of Biden and the Dems horrific inflation that is costing the average family $500/mo.

    Free Folks will work this out with their Elected State Legislatures.

    BTW, USA is far from being alone in the World regarding wrestling with the contentious issue of when/if abortion should be legal. The hundreds of nations have hundreds of permutations of laws about abortion.

    The whole argument is all over the place because everyone has their own definitions of when life begins and it isn't always reasonable even within one's own head.
    You can be pro-life with life begins at conception but perfectly fine with killing hundreds of embryos for artificial ensemination.
    You can be pro-choice and yet feel that killing a baby at 8 1/2 months is murder
    You can say that you think abortion is murder yet be willing to murder a baby if the mother was raped.
    You can be pro-choice yet feel that if a bad guy shoots the mother in the belly, they should be charged with 2 counts of murder.
    etc., etc.
    That's why they need to just make a compromise law where no one is happy and be done with it.
